The 57th Overlanders

Who We Are

The 57th Overlanders are based around a Firefly/Serenity theme. The 57th Overlanders was the unit that Malcolm Reynolds fought with during the Unification War in the Firefly Universe created by Joss Whedon. It is the ideals present in this show that forms the basis of the 57th.

We are a small and tight-knit group, with the basic goal to keep flyin', even in a zombie infested wasteland... we may even have to sell little porcelain geisha dolls with heads that wobble to survive.

Where We Operate

At the moment we operate out of Eden Museum in Kinch Heights.

What We Operate

Revive Points

We operate a revive point at The cemetery north of Eden Museum. Anyone who uses it is expected to pop into Eden Museum to say thanks, as is only good form.

Safehouses

The 57th currently maintains no Safehouses other than it's Headquarters at Eden.

Headquarters

Our current Headquarters is located at Eden Museum, but as of yet no services other than the Revive Point at The cemetery north of Eden Museum are maintained here. The Headquarters is currently maintained at VSB to serve as an access point into the St. Hubertus's Hospital, the general complex stemming from there, and to allow a safehouse for low-level survivors.

What We Expect

This can be summarized in one word: community. This is what the 57th expects out of all of her members. You must contribute to the community in some form, or you will quickly find yourself needing another place to stay. We're friendly folk to all and sundry, but we do expect more from our members than most. If you're not willing to put in the time and effort into us, we're certainly not going to put time and effort into you.

History

The 57th is a relatively new formation, it's around a year and a half old at this point. The 57th in UD however is much newer, and it was formed on 6th Jan 2010.

The first month

The first month was mostly spent attracting people to the game and fiddling with it ourselves. By the beginning of February the procedures for recognizing a new game as being an official game of the 57th came into being, and Angelking took it upon himself to lead the 57th in UD and get it recognized. To this end, he began looking around for a possibly Headquarters, East Grayside was identified as a likely site, and Wilbraham Cinema became the local safehouse for the fledgling 57th.

The second month

The second month saw the movement of the 57th away from the original HQ at Wilbraham Cinema, and to set up camp at the entry point at Eden Museum. Following various runs down to Buckley Mall, the 57th are now in the process of settling down and securing the surrounding area, which has yet to be defined.

The 57th Elsewhere

The 57th started it's existence in another game, Cybernations. It branched out just after it's 1 year old mark into OGame and then into Urban Dead. The 57th in Urban Dead has yet to be recognized by the Captain, Veneke, as an official game of the 57th. We operate a single membership for all official games of the 57th. In other words, if you're a member of the 57th in Cybernations, then you're also a member of the 57th in Urban Dead and vice-versa. People we welcome into the 57th we expect to be full and proper persons, actual and whole. You're either in the 57th, or you're not. One of the (many) upsides to this, is that you get to sample a wide variety of games and meet a wide variety of people from other games that you may not have otherwise met.
