Clapton Stadium, named after legendary British rocker Eric Clapton's younger Malton-based brother, is a four-block stadium in the suburb of West Grayside which, prior to the outbreak, served as home to Real Malton FC and Malton's historic underdog football team, the Malton Crash. In 2006, a band of trapped professional football players banded together as the Malton World Cup Committee and celebrated World Cup 2006 by staging a near mythic version of the tournament at the venue. Since the World Cup ended, the stadium has undergone extensive renovations, and preparations are currently underway by the newly formed Malton Euro 2008 Commission to stage a competition across the duration of Euro 2008.
