re: "Catacomb" News item

Thanks! --WanYao 02:00, 18 May 2009 (BST)

Archiving news.

When you remove old news from the suburb's front page, don't forget to add it to the archive news page. You seems to be doing fine for most suburbs, but forget to do it with North Blythville.

Now I've archived the lost March and April news for you. An easy tip to remember it is to open two pages, edit current news and news archive, at once. It's better to do in a tab-based browser. When you remove items from current news, you immediately paste them into new archive and save it. You will no longer have problem remembering it anymore.

By the way, when archiving news, please remove the years, i.e. "May 2009" should be "May" under "2009" section. The extra year is just redundant. See earlier examples in any news archive page. In fact, if you're unsure of how to edit things, just see how they've been done before.

Oh, in case you don't know, you can use EMRP: Reports to Process to update suburbs' EMR and Danger Levels by bulk instead of doing them by hands. It's easier that way, if you don't mind the delay waiting for The Rooster to run his bot. He usually do it every day or every few days.

Thank you for being diligence and generally be a good contributor. You save me a lot of work. -- Kittithaj 17:34, 17 June 2009 (BST)

On your recent edits

I see that you're a very industrious editor. And while that can be a good thing, they can have undesirable side effects. Editing so much makes you tired. And it ultimately leads to mistakes.

Observe those edits of yours:

  • EMRP:_Paynterton - you forgot to change the month from Jun to Jul.
  • Pegton - once again, you forgot to change the month from June to July. The prior editor also made the same mistake.
  • Chancelwood - when archiving old news, you accidentally removed the header and description of Chancelwood Barricade Plan.

And who know how many else there are such mistakes? The reason is, as I said, you edit too much. So you got blurred by all that much work. This would not happen if you heed my first advice - leave all the tedious work to the bot. All those suburbs' EMR and Danger Status can be automatically done. You can continue to post each suburb's report on the news section if you want.

Now I STRONGLY advise you again to cut all those unnecessary, bot-doable edits, because frankly, your mistakes from tiredness cause more harm than good. Make quality edits, not edit in quantity. Make sure every edits count and always preview before saving.

And it would help if you track back all your recent edits to see if there are more mistakes left unchecked, and fix them if needed. Because, well, it's your edits and no one can do the job better than you. -- Kittithaj 16:48, 19 July 2009 (BST)
