Basic Info:

Wippell Row
Description
The publicly accessible part of Wippell Row is a one-block-long thoroughfare lined by low-income apartments. Though the road continues to the west, curving north, that part of the street has been closed to vehicular traffic and all buildings in that area have been condemned.
History
Wippell Row was once a fashionable part of Richmond Hills in which to live; however, it never recovered from the Depression, and property values plummeted. In 1977, obscenely high levels of lead and mercury contamination forced the closure of much of the street, particularly the north and west portions, which remain abandoned to this day.
