B-GL-2-1: The Communication Chain

The following is a DRAFT of a basic guide on the Communication Chain, subject to change/review.

The Logistics of Communication

When you are fighting on the streets, you aren't fighting alone. You may not see them, but there are other Regimentals doing their part to win. You are a part of a team, and you must be able to communicate with your teammates in order for the team to be effective. In the same vein, the team needs direction in the form of orders and status updates to make sure every member is working towards a common objective.

In order to make sure information is passed between you, the fellow Regimental on the other side of the suburb, and the Regiment Headquarters, the Regiment maintains a network of communication to keep you in-the-know. While this is not critical knowledge for rank-and-file members, this guide exist to explain how the system functions, for those who are curious.

This guide is organized so that Orders flow from top to bottom, and information from bottom-up.

The Communication Chain

The RTO

The RTO is the Apex of the communication chain. This is the destination of all information. From here, that information is either pushed back down the chain via the radio network, either to keep other elements of the Regiment in the loop or to modify orders.

The Phone Mast

The Phone Mast is an intermediary. Fire Team leaders like sending their aggregate report via texting the CO or RTO. Otherwise, they have to physically make their way from their team safehouse to the Regimental HQ to make their report. The Mobile Phone Mast is a link in the chain that saves AP.

The Team Leader

The Team Leader formulates orders based on directives issued by the Regiment HQ. In addition, they also aggregate the reports of their fire team members and send it up the chain to the RTO.

YOU!

As a Fire Team member, you are the primary source of information. After your daily actions, you should give a verbal report to your fire team leader so that he can move your information up the chain.

Conlusion

As you can see, many stages are involved in getting your information distributed to others, and getting others' information to you. Keep an eye out, report well, and you'll be doing your part in the chain.
