Hey journal, it's me again. After I had an unfortunate run-in with zombies, I lost my old one, just now did I find one suitable to use. The last few pages are torn out, as if someone was either trying to get rid of something, or at least get some fire starting material to stay warm.

Staying warm...hard to do in such messed up conditions where the power isn't working. Since the invasion began, what, one and a half years ago, they shut down that power - I believe I heard a military man say it was to stop us from talking to the outside world, but I call BS on that. Why shutdown the power to prevent outside contact? I'm sure you can jam all communications without killing the power.

Enough about conspiracy theories, all I know is that it's damn cold in Malton this time of year. I recently stopped by a firestation, though, with a real running generator! A group of 15 or so had holed up, so I needed to vault from a nearby building to get inside.

For once in this miserable city, there was warm food, hot showers, clean clothes and sheets, and friendly people. We shared stories and then ate. I used to hate spam before living in Malton, but, seeing as it's something that just refuses to spoil and can actually be quite tasty when cooked right, I ate my fill. When I asked how I could repay them, they just raised their hands and shook their heads. I promise I'll pick up more food and gasoline for them, later. One of the best safehouses I've slept in all year.
