Statement

Sysops are required to note any warning and banning of a user on A/VD, but there is no apparent requirement to inform them of this action on their user talk pages.

Reality

Previously this was not an issue, sysops informed users of warnings and bans as a matter of course due to simple good manners. However recently certain sysops have been deliberately skirting the rules in regards to what they have to do in their official capacity on this wiki. If we take the misconduct case surrounding this behaviour only one sysop articulated their ruling for the community, opining that sysops should place note on the talk pages of users that are escalated.

Proposal

The Administration Guidelines policy will be amended to include the following:

Any sysop altering the vandal data of a user, whether escalating them based on cases lodged on A/VB or de-escalating them based on requests from A/DE, will be required to immediately make note of this on the user talk page of the user in question. The note should be professional in nature and include a link to the case that caused the alteration of the user's vandal data. A note will not be required for an A/DE case that has been personally requested by the user in question.
