Suburb
From The Urban Dead Wiki
| A Suburb is a named 10 block by 10 block subsection in the city of Malton. There are 100 suburbs in Malton, arranged in a 10 by 10 grid.
In the game, the suburb you are in is given at the top of the 3x3 map showing your immediate environment. There is no special procedure for moving from one suburb to another - simply keep walking and you will find yourself in a new suburb. If your map has fewer than nine squares, you are at one of the boundaries of Malton itself, not simply the boundary of a suburb. |

[edit] More Maps
Shown in the section above is one of several useful maps of Malton. This section gives links to others; each has a different focus in the information it shows, although several are based off the map below and / or add information to it.
- historical views of the danger map below.
- combines below map with summaries of External Military radio reports from 25.96Mhz.
- gives a graphical layout showing status of malls across the city.
- uses Scent Death images taken across the city to graphically show where and how many zombies and dead bodies are present anywhere in the city.
- summarizes the status of the NT buildings in each suburb, combined with the information from the below map. The NT building information is often out of date.
- shows the condition of mobile phone masts throughout the city.

[edit] Reports
- Foulkes Village Ten outside the Cyril General Hospital, but few elsewhere in the north of the suburb. Most buildings barricaded and some powered. Garum 09:20, 10 May 2008 (BST)
Two really small "hordes" of around 10-20 zombies each. Nearly no ferals. Buildings all in good repair, mostly caded and more than half lit. -Aidan Swart 23:22, 9 May 2008 (BST)
A few break ins but no real horde.--Dragon fang 21:46, 9 May 2008 (BST)
- Still several occupied resource buildings and several buildings with a single low level zombie inside, but this suburb is starting to come back. Two Necrotech buildings are operational and revive queue lines are very short with a moderately fast turnover. --└Frozen┘┌Flame┐ 21:31, 9 May 2008 (BST)
- Just a couple of breakins, certainly no mobs of 50+. Setting to moderate. --AusIV 15:16, 6 May 2008 (BST)
- Ridleybank is a wondrous bastion of truth, justice, and safety. The Blackmore Building now only experiences the occasional gk'er and is holding off against a meager swarm of 25 zombies. Most if not all buildings in the suburb are properly barricaded according to the barricade plan. --Vandurn 02:44, 5 May 2008 (BST)
- From EMRP: 04:12, 3 May 2008 (BST) 25.96 MHz: "... can see maybe fifty on the streets of Brooke Hills ... mostly just stragglers, no organised groups ... can't see any signs of life ... serious collateral damage ... the Hellyer Building is out of action ..." (6 hours and 49 minutes ago)
- However, I counted 71 zeds in my scans from the Hellyer and Heathcote Buildings, so it's obviously not a Ghost Town anymore. Not sure if it's "Dangerous" or "Moderate", since I only saw about 18 buildings on my way through (only a handful of them ruined), but since I only saw about three isolated survivors, and of the three resource buildings I saw two were ruined (the other barricaded but with no survivors inside), I'm going to change the status to "Dangerous". --Morgan Blair(M.E.R.C.Y.)(NW) 07:42, 4 May 2008 (BST)
Penny Heights is green. Haven't had any zombie swarms at all for something like a week.Toxic Ninja 02:28, 3 May 2008 (BST)
25.96 MHz: "... All scans / tour of Gullonside have turned up positive results of being safe for the living... for now... Mall has been lit for days and very few standing zeds throughout the suburb..."
- Lets make this place Safe.--Wareameye 14:45, 2 May 2008 (BST)
- Just did a quick circuit of the suburb and found it mostly devoid of zombies. I think I saw 12 total, 8 of whom were outside Creek NT. Frelghra 23:48, 2 May 2008 (BST)
25.96 MHz: "... East Becktown is still active, maybe fifty on the streets ... maybe a dozen outside Edward General Hospital ... a lot of buildings with lights on ... infrastructure looks intact ... some survivor activity in the Sugg Building ..."
- Downgrading to Moderate. Frelghra 21:12, 1 May 2008 (BST)
This is the suburb map and not the external military map, so I am reporting accordingly. From personal experience I know that the resource buildings are hotly contested by a group of organized zombies. Many rotters are inhabiting resource buildings and actively breaking into buildings and feasting on survivor brains. Upgrading to Dangerous.--Giles Sednik 08:04, 4 May 2008 (BST)
25.96 MHz: "... leaving Tollyton, counted maybe seventy outside ... mostly just small groups ... several buildings with power ... some minor structural damage ... power's on at Woodroffe Mall ..."
- Downgrading to Moderate based on this. Frelghra 16:01, 30 April 2008 (BST)
25.96 MHz: "... maybe seventy in Shearbank ... mostly just small groups ... only one building with lights on ... most of the buildings are ruined ... looks like Stickling Mall has fallen ..."
- Downgrading to Dangerous based on this. Frelghra 16:01, 30 April 2008 (BST)
25.96 MHz: "... can see about forty on the streets of Gatcombeton ... maybe a dozen outside Calvert Mall ... a few buildings with lights on ... serious collateral damage ... Calvert Mall is operational ..." Sounds like Moderate danger to me. Frelghra 16:01, 30 April 2008 (BST)
The Buckley Mall area is fending off over 200 zombies (there are more in the rest of the burb, reports of 270 tagged zombies plus who knows how many untagged). Most buildings not immediately next to the mall are down, including most NTs. Changing to red. --Nom de Plume 20:31, 29 April 2008 (BST)
Both hospitals and most other buildings have fallen to large zed hoards. More zeds arrive every hour. Recommend changing status to very dangerous. The only buildings that have not fallen shall fall soon, all zeds seeking revives should either migrate to another suburb, or be prepared to wait a long time at one of the RPs. Doc Terr 18:40, 27 April 2008 (MST)
- Many TRPs ruined, groups of 20-50 zeds now eating the boring buildings too. Changed to very dangerous. Garum 12:19, 29 April 2008 (BST)
Changed to ghost town on the basis of the EMRP - "twenty or so on the streets ... they're just wandering around ... it's a wasteland down there". Garum 10:53, 29 April 2008 (BST)
When scouting around spracklingbank, i noticed no ruined buildings and all TRPs operational, i don't see a high zombie population either, downgrading damage to yellow. User:Pvt Hawkins7:00PM, April 28th 2008 (GMT+10)
Hordes of at least 40-50 zeds in wyke hills. I think it should be changed from safe to moderate. User:American420 9:06PM, April 27th 2008 (ECT)
More than half the suburb is barricaded and powered, and there are few zombies wandering around. Updating to moderate danger. Will go safe when all buildings are barricaded. Zombies, get over here for some good meals before they're ALL behind closed doors! Iunnrais 20:43, 25 April 2008 (BST)
Lots of ruin and zombies, but barricading in the southeast includes an NT, this suburb is coming back. --אֲבִיּוֹנָה
18:41, 25 April 2008 (BST)
The NTs are running, the revive points are clear, and the resource buildings look ok. Setting to safe. --Brian mercat 02:54, 25 April 2008 (BST)
Pretty much completely ransacked and with groups of zeds spread everywhere. They now seem to be trickling into East Grayside. Changing to red. --Nom de Plume 20:53, 24 April 2008 (BST)
And The Dead shall outnumber the living... --Cythrelo 02:40, 24 April 2008 (BST)
25.96 MHz: "... flying over Miltown, can see a couple of dozen on the streets ... they're just wandering around ... a lot of lights on, looks the area's been reclaimed ... infrastructure looks intact ... power's on at the Fliney Building ..."
Based on this report Miltown should probably be changed to green. --Will Cathers 14:21, 23 April 2008 (BST)
Mostly fallen to 150+ zombies in large hordes. Outnumbered urvivors have taken refuge in the NT in the southwest, which is under assault. Moving to red. --Nom de Plume 21:57, 22 April 2008 (BST)
Under heavy siege on the north east corner, the Cheeke Building has been taken under Zombies Hands, probably the same moob that attacked South Blythville below. --Levhita 02:55, 21 April 2008 (BST)
Northern part of suburb is overflowing with hundreds of zombies, and NT buildings are under attack. Pippard and Preston NTs are currently ruined. --Violet B 20:39, 17 April 2008 (BST)
Quickly headed the way of Roftwood. The RPs are stacked, and the Rayfield NT is a goner. Woodroffe Mall is still good to go. Updating to dangerous. Brian mercat 03:15, 17 April 2008 (BST)
Hostile zombie mob of 150+. MOA, Extinction, and The Dead.--Violet B 03:53, 16 April 2008 (BST)
Making my way through the suburb, and most buildings are VSB or EHB in south and central areas. Upgrading to moderate, at least. --DaytonDead 01:53, 15 April 2008 (BST)
Large hordes continue their march from pegton. Goodford road PD and the suburbs only hospital both have 50+hordes inside and out. Non TRP's are still being ignored but it seems this organised assault will be quick. --Rosslessness 23:23, 12 April 2008 (BST)
Until yesterday, Barrville was well on it's way to recovery, but a large and organized zombie horde has moved in and utterly destroyed the northern half of the suburb. The westren area will not last long either. Barricade levels are changing rapidly so safehouses and entry points cannot be relied upon. --└Frozen┘┌Flame┐ 04:57, 10 April 2008 (BST)
[edit] Suburbs of Note
- Home of the Ridleybank Resistance Front and suburbs of their claimed territory.
- Home to Caiger Mall, site of four of the largest sieges in UD history. The Malton Iditarod started and finished here.
- Home to the Yagoton Revivification Clinic, one of the largest revivification points in Malton. The Valentine's Day Massacre took place in Southern Yagoton.
- Home to the Eastonwood Ferals and birthplace of the notorious PKer Pathetic Bill, the suburb is since March 06 a very dangerous place for survivors.
- Home to the survivor group the PA Rebel Alliance, based out of Giddings Mall. In mid-September 2005, the PA Rebel Alliance is said to be responsible for the zombie group The Many's greatest defeat. Also failed to lose against The Shining Ones in a seige in May-June 2006. Also home to the Creedy Defense Force.
- Suburb once occupied by a group called DARIS, who made it a policy to eliminate all non-DARIS members within the suburb. It was eventually forced out by a variety of factors, including downright apathy and a possible zerging attack.
