West Grayside is a suburb located in south-central Malton.

West Grayside was Malton's number one entertainment and cultural hotspot and a major commercial hub before the outbreak. The suburb is home to Pole Mall, the innovative Hitoshi Abe-designed Clapton Stadium, as well as numerous fashionable clubs and pubs, and several popular cinemas. Whether it was hipsters or hip hop kids, football fans or Miskatonic student-intellectuals, postcard punks or upscale fashionistas, all kinds could be seen vying for the spotlight in the suburb's sidewalk cafes, pubs, clubs and trendy boutiques.

Darker times have fallen upon the neighborhood since the outbreak, however, and life has simplified somewhat -- with the major fashion statements competing against each other now being trenchcoats, tensor bandages and neural decomposition.

There are two radio stations serving West Grayside: 26.19 MHz is the frequency for the SE-4 district, which includes West and East Grayside, Kempsterbank and Wyke Hills; and 26.82 Mhz is dedicated station for Pole Mall.

Almost 2 weeks later... Pole Mall is still reporting in safe, and both NTs buildings are being held by survivors. Meanwhile, a tour of central and southern W/G showed plenty of barricades and fuelled generators, as well as a good number of survivors. Zombies still menace some parts of the suburb, but nowhere near at the levels of a few weeks ago. --WanYao 14:42, 18 May 2008 (BST)

[edit] May 5th

An apparent attempt by survivors to establish a small foothold in West Grayside -- including the barricading of some resource buildings and several non-descript safehouses -- has been thwarted. Numerous ferals and members of The Dead have been systematically tearing down barricades and using Feeding Groans effectively to kill any survivors they find inside... Still a very dangerous place to be in possession of a warm, juicy, crenulated brain... M!am, gnammah. --WanYao 16:36, 5 May 2008 (BST)

Pole Mall, 3 zeds outside, 3 inside. Copeland NT down and out. Trying to survive up here, but not sure how long I'll live up here on my own. Will try to update other buildings as I find out (but new to putting these reports up, so may find it difficult to do.) Small groups of zombies scattered with low numbers I seen, most PDs I found ruined. Not sure of numbers of zeds within buildings, be cautious. --Trinity DeKere 12:06, 28 April 2008 (BST)

DIRT:NAP in process to revive the suburb. I'm starting at my position in lower West Grayside at 56,83. To all the dead Survivors, especially noobs, cult the Zombies of the NT buildings and sleep on the revive points. When revived retake and barricade the NT buildings first. Don't forget, if you get revived come back and give a revive. Especially if it's a DIRT:NAPper. --TommyMann 24 April 2008

Pole Mall is down and covered in zeds, at least 200. Surrounding buildings are also swarmed with zeds. Any survivors should steer clear of the northern part of this burb for awhile. --Irioth 00:20, 25 April 2008 (BST) 16:52, 22 April 2008 (BST)

Pole Mall now ransacked and without power. Circa 100 zombies in northern section of WG. All NT buildings have had barricades destroyed. -Pug

[edit] April 8th

The NW corner of Pole has been Ruined with 40 zombies inside.[1] Nearly 20 more have spilled over into the NE. The mall has no power, of course. Meanwhile, both NTs are without power and there's been a small zombie infestation inside the Topleaf Building.[2] --WanYao 04:59, 8 April 2008 (BST)

[edit] April 7th

NW corner of pole mall has fallen and been ransacked. 16 zombies inside, unknown number outside. Some 100 total survivors left in the mall, no generators running. Need to reorganize and regroup, or will be forced to retreat.--Mr. shoot all day 19:04, 7 April 2008 (BST)

Another day of fierce fighting in Pole Mall, the stubborn defenders have held back the zombie incursions so far but casualties are mounting.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mandrake (talkcontribs) at an unknown time. 21:07, 5 April (GMT)

The RRF continue to be active in West Grayside -- breaking into Dampney Grove PD[3] and also joining the queues at Bunstone Alley.[4]. However, contrary to some rumours, Pole Mall does not appear to be under siege at this time.[5] --WanYao 00:44, 4 April 2008 (BST)

[edit] April 2nd

Earlier today both the Copeland and the Topleaf NTs were ruined. Currently, the Topleaf is repaired and barricaded to EHB but unpowered -- and the Copeland has been pinataed to VHB. Nearby, a crowd of 32 zombies Mrh?'s away in an eerie chorus at Bunstone Alley. --WanYao 08:49, 2 April 2008 (BST)

[edit] April 1th

Very little zombie activity from what I've seen. The mall and all the resource buildings have all been rebarricaded, with numerous survivors calling this suburb home. Grungerguy 20:41, 1 April 2008 (BST)

[edit] Barricade Plan

On the map below, note that all "colored" buildings are intended to be very strongly barricaded (VSB). All buildings with initials and marked as extremely heavily barricaded (EHB) should always be at EHB. Please note that barricade levels on all other EHB-labeled buildings are 100% optional, though barricading to EHB is recommended.

When in doubt, barricade to VSB; doing so is a more efficient use of your action points, and is more survivor friendly.
