He'd been a Lance Corporal in the US Marines during life and he'd seen wars in Somalia, Columbia, Afghanistan and Iraq. He knew, with intimacy, the horrors humanity could inflict on one another-yet he was able to maintain his sanity. He was working with some Forward Observers on a Black-Op in Pakistan when news of Malton came. He returned State-side as soon as the mission ended: he knew that something of that nature would not be contained to one lone city. Then came news of Monroeville, and he deployed to Pittsburgh with his unit. They infiltrated in to the city and acted as a diversionary fire-team to buy the Quarantine Units time to erect the barriers and free-fire zones. As good as they were, they were simply unprepared for the unrelenting intensity of the attacks that they endured. Helbling and Akenhead were taken down almost immediately and Ferguson, Savelli and Young never saw the following day. He had one option other than a useless death, so with his second in command he withdrew to the barriers in an attempt to escape Monroeville. His second in command was killed at the extraction point leaving him the sole survivor of the insertion team. When the city was given up as a lost cause and a Terminal-Barrier was established, he joined the Pioneer Unit that was organizing to fly to Malton to aid and assist efforts to evacuate survivors out of the city. Once inside the walls, the horrors of Monroeville repeated themselves-but with a different outcome. They were ready for the waves of Zombies and they received assistance from a local survivor group, the Gore Corps, and were led to the safety of Ridleybank. The first night there, they learned the error of their ways. The Gore Corps were death-cultists and murdered the Pioneer Unit while they slept. The Lance Corporal rose as a Zombie and was rechristened Yama LaVey. Now, he rises early every morning and feeds on human brains with his new Strike Team: The Ridleybank Resistance Front's GMT-Breakfast Club. He is also a member of the RRF's War Council and, therefore, is partially to blame if an RRF member has recently dined on your fleshy bits. One has to wonder where the straight-jacket came from...
Update: The GMT-BC has left the RRF as a team, and Yama has cut formal ties with the Horde until such a time that new leadership takes over. Thus, he is no longer part of the War Council, any RRF strike-teams or the RRF as a whole. The GMT-BC has set off on their own as a small group of zombies that have some of the most successful strikers and highest XP numbers of any groups out there.
