I like this idea. May I make a few suggestions? --Zaphord 03:49, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Absolutely. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 04:00, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
Didn't see this until after my edit frenzy. Go ahead and make a few changes on this talk page (under a new header) and I'll add them in :) --Haliman - Talk 04:42, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
On second thought, I'll add them tomorrow. I'm tired now. :P --Haliman - Talk 04:48, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
Will do. It'll be awhile as my studies is more important, but I'll have some down time this week, which I'll devote to this. --Zaphord 05:23, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Just want to explain my thinking: I'm moving the first part of Step One into the overview. I feel its out of place, and doesn't belong with searching a group. The create a page example image will go off on the right bit of the screen. I've gotten rid of the word you, and made it third person rather than second person. And expanded on a lot of your ideas Haliman. If you see any errors that I missed, feel free to corrected them. I've edited as much as I've wanted to tonight. I'll do the rest later. --Zaphord 05:52, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

I added in two and three, but overview and one seem fine to me... --Haliman - Talk 23:33, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Fine by me, but I highly suggest you keep the same style of writing. Either third or second person and not both. --Zaphord 00:09, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Overview

Groups are major part of Urbandead. Many of these groups come to the wiki to established their existence, objective, members, and location etc to the rest of the community. Often, new groups are created incorrectly by inexperience with the wiki.Creating a group requires patients and in game experience. Gathering player information, motives, locations etc. on the new group before creating the group's page is highly recommended. The following guide will help guide new groups through the process of creating a well organized group page for their Urbandead group on the wiki.

Step One: The big one!

The name of the desired group, whatever it shall be, should first be searched in the wiki. For two reason

  1. Check to see the desired name is not taken or already in use.
  2. It easily sets the group up for creating a new page.

Creating a new page for the group is easy. Simply click the red "Create this page" link which will bring you to the edit box for the new groups information, motives, descriptions etc. etc.. It is important to note that just clicking "creating a page" will not save the page onto the wiki, but saving content via the text box will save the page to the wiki.

For Example, if User:Billy Bob wants to create example group, he would first search the wiki for example group, arrive at the example group search page, and click "create a page" and begin creating the page for his group.

Step Two: The Template

Displaying the group's information on the newly created group page, can be made easy via the Group Box template. The template conveniently lists group information in a pleasant looking box, and gives the group page a backbone to work off of. The template will include the following information:

  • Group name
  • The group image
  • The group's abbreviation
  • The amount of members
  • The groups leaders
  • The goals of the group
  • A place for recruitment information
  • A place for contact information

The group template, like many other templates of the wiki, is very easy to fill out. Following the example on the Group Box page the template should be copied and pasted into the group's page.

Step Three: The rest of the page

The group template is easy to create, however, it lacks the ability to describe the group in a in-depth way and capture the attention of other players. Doing so can be done by, simply, writing paragraphs, sentences, or whatever about the group. The group has the ability to talk about its motives, location, background, and even what they hopeful in a future members. The group description is up to the groups own imagination. There are no limitations for the description of the group and creativity is highly recommended!
