November 12th:
I don't know what happened. How I got here but its been a year... A long year... I woke up in the middle of the street, dazed, confused. I did not really know where I was. As I got up it was painful and I had a splitting headache that come to think of it I still have now. I walked over to a nearby church and found a hole in the barricade, as I walked down the isle, I realized i was infected. I had a fever, pale skin, clouded mind. I quickly sat down and pulled out a first aid kit and patched myself up a bit. I was still wounded quite a bit but most of the bleeding stopped and the antibodies removed the infection. I rested for a few minutes before continuing a few drunks were asleep around the church I didn't care much for them at the time. As far as they know I was not even here. I climbed onto the roof and looked around not to far from where I was I saw a mall figured it was worth a shot could be a good place as easy as it could be an over run zombie hell hole. I arrived there shortly after to get medical care as soon as I slipped in through the skylight down a rope someone had left there they gave me a cot for the night. I quickly went around and salvaged some supply's from the drug store got myself a few first aid kits and went on to search the gun store and found enough ammo to reload my guns oddly enough I had a taste for human flesh and I began to wonder what really happened that entire long year...

You are standing outside The Williams Building. The building has been extremly heavily barricaded. Somebody has spraypainted a picture of a nude women onto a wall.

You search the area around the building and find a corpse. Next to it is a small book stained with blood. The book is singed in one corner and the title is too scarred out to read.

You read the small book, it appears to be a journal.

The Journal of Lord Kailvin Tremere:

If you are reading this, either I am dead...or the outbreak is over and this has been published, or maybe both.

I gained the title "Lord" when I was born into a noble family. My family died during the early outbreaks and now it's my sole duty to avenge them...and avenge I shall. This is a log of my adventures during the outbreak of Malton.

I started taking this journal around the end of December '07. I hope you learn much and enjoy my journal...

Chapter 1: The beginning

December 2007

December 19th: I decided to leave the safe haven of the Veresmith Street Police Department so I could go help rid our city of these blasted zed's and so I walked NE, trying to match other people's footsteps until I got fairly tired. I decided to slip in the barricades of the Chudley Row Fire Station only to find another human sleeping... or maybe that just what I wanted to see maybe she was dead...

I went over to a dusty shelf and searched for anything I could use to make a small fire, since the generator in the corner was not working and it was freezing cold. To my surprise I found a fire axe, I tossed it behind me thinking I could just grab it after, but I didn't hear the metal hit the floor. I turned around to see it sticking in the girl. She had barely moved. I checked her pulse she was alive. I decided that resting was no longer an option, I knew I would have to make sacrifices. So I slipped out the barricades and kept on walking through the snow, holding only a pistol with 5 bullets and a fire axe.

After about an hour of walking I couldn't go on anymore, so I walked up to the nearest building I could find and I slipped over the barricades and into the building. No one was here so I hopped onto a sofa that was used as part of the barricades and closed my eyes as a faint memory came to mind... The Carle Building... that was the building I was sleeping in... not that it really mattered as I had already passed out thinking tomorrow will be a brighter day.

I awoke in the middle of the night hearing gun shots of a battle not to far away, I sprang up from my bed (err... couch) and hopped out the window and dashed through the snow to a near by police station where I saw a man shooting zombies down. They turned towards me, I only had 5 bullets...I knew that was nowhere near enough, so I dashed past them into the building reading the sign 'Shapr Boulevard Police Department' as I ran in. Everyone waved to me, I sat down with them and tried to make myself comfortable for a good nights sleep.

December 20th: At about 10 o'clock AM the sounds of a shotgun finally awoke me. I figured I needed to start me day off searching for some ammo. After a few hours of searching I finally found some, but I also came across a few other things (another pistol, flare gun, some shotgun shells). As I got back towards the door, preparing to head out to continue my journey...I reached for the door handle and heard zombies moaning. I slipped my head outside the barricades and took a look. There were 3 zed's standing there, smashing at the barricades. I quickly pulled out my pistol and started to fire rapidly and mercilessly at the zed's until I ran out of ammunition, I quickly slipped through the barricades and grabbed my trusty fire axe. I started trying to decapitate the bastards, but was soon forced to fall back into the building... After that experience, I decided to continue searching. Eventually I came across a shotgun to go with my shells...

December 21st: Shooting zombies left and right with my new shotgun until I ran out of ammo. I lost my pistol... kept heading North found my way into Tapton... now taking refuge in the Morrhall Drive Fire Station. Planning to head East to the nearby Haag Plaza Police Department.

December 24th: The last thing I can remember is waking up to the sounds of groaning...then it's all fuzzy... and I wake up in the middle of a park... I don't know what happened... how I got here I don't know... but my head hurts a lot...

October 2008

October 28th: After many months of brain munching, a NecroTech guy revived me...I don't know how they do it, but I've decided to take refuge in a nearby autoshop for the night...or day, I'm not sure...it's cloudy and I'm dizzy.

October 29th: Early this morning I was feeling better and heard some clawing at the barricade. I slowly pulled out my shotgun and stuck it out the window. I saw a zombie trying to rip the barricade apart, so I fired off a round into it. I realized that was my last shell, and pulled out my pistol and emptied two clips into it. After I'd fired all my bullets, I hopped down and pulled out my fire axe. I swung at the zombie as it dropped to the ground. Afterwards I headed over to a building that appeared to be a police station. It was trashed to heck and back by zeds. I said "Screw it!" and headed to the fire station next door. I found the doors wide open and a zed inside about to attack a fellow survivor. When he saw me he fled out a window. I quickly closed the doors and grabbed a nearby table to block them. It was getting darker, I knew that this place would not be safe so I climbed onto the roof and took the fire ladder and positioned it across the street to the window of a nearby office building. I walked across and climbed in to be pleasantly greeted by a NecroTech lab assistant doing some work at his desk. Down the hall was some fine African artwork (probably stolen from the museum a few blocks away). I went to the lobby where people were taking naps and playing cards, another sitting at a radio transmitter monitoring transmissions. I pulled up a chair and decided to take a nap...

Later that day I woke up climbed the flight of stairs to the roof and looked around. I noticed the police station had been fixed up, so I headed there...thinking I could find some ammunition.

November 2008

November 7th: I awoke the snapping of wood, and the groans of several zombies. I quickly gathered my things. I could hear gun shots. I saw a couple of zombies limping down the hall, so I jumped out the window. It was just before dawn and the mist was heavy. Most of the buildings East were trashed and damaged. I did what seemed logical and ran away from the ruins. I think it turned 10 O'clock, but I wasn't really sure. I was becoming very weak and turning pale. I recognized it as signs of the infection. I found a zombie bite on my back, motherfuckers bit me in my sleep! I soon found a nearby church and climbed over the barricades. I was in luck, after a while of searching I found a medkit and patched myself up a bit. I knew I was still wounded, but at least now I wouldn't die. I continued along the path, away from the ruins. My shotgun strapped to my back, my pistol and some spare clips on my belt. I was wearing a large black coat and a shirt, black pants, boots, scarf, a bandanna and balaclava...all black. I liked to think of myself as some kind of avenger, running through the night slaughtering zombies... I continued along the path until I reached a large structure. 'Buckly Mall' was in big letters on the side. There were men on the roof, they were shooting at some zombies. I didn't think much of it at the time. I entered a nearby church, went up the stairs and walked along a makeshift bridge. I was immediately greeted by a doctor who took me to a med ward made out of a drugstore. He patched me up. I thanked him and headed out. It was a well organized place. I headed over to what appeared to be the remains of the gun store, I found a good chunk of ammo. After a long day I was tired, so I headed over to a furniture store and slept in the bed section. It was pretty crowded, I couldn't find any free beds, so I tried the sofa section. There were a few free sofas so I grabbed a blanket and pillow and decided to get a good nights sleep.

November 8th: I woke up when some crazy religious person bashed in the generator. All the lights went out and he was shouting "Our time has come! and "We must accept our fate!". He was able to bash in a second generator before being taken out by a guard. After that I headed over the bridge back to the church. I walked outside into the graveyard and a zombie started coming towards me. I pulled out my pistol and got off several clips into it until I got fed up pulled out my shotgun and blew it's head off. Another rose up, but it was too far away for me to care at the time. I fired off a few bullets from my pistol, reloaded my shotgun and fired off the last of my shells into it, then reloaded my pistol and fired off another full clip before it dropped dead. I was running low on ammunition and didn't have enough to kill the last zombie, so I headed back into the church and back up over the bridge into the mall. This is where I began writing this entry.

Damn, the lights just went out! oh no, not more religious lunatics... knocking out the generators... oh well, I'm sure someone will fix it... I'm looking out the window on the horizon, I can see smoke from ruined buildings with a beautiful sunset behind it...I've decided to go back to my couch and turn in early... I sleep so much, because you can never sleep well knowing that there's a good chance you'll wake up with a hunger for brains the next day.

November 10th: I'd been searching the gun store all morning, I now have 3 loaded shotguns, a good 7 pistol clips and 2 extra shotgun shells. I think I've got a fairly good ammo supply. Around 12:30 PM, after lunch...my radio came on, there was screaming and smashing in the background, someone was shouting "HELP US! they've broken through the barricades! about 50 or so! HELP, WE'RE AT POLE MALL, HURRY!!!" *static*. I knew Pole Mall wasn't far, the fact that was happening only about 2 miles from here scared the crap outta' me. I headed up to the roof, where on the horizon smoke could be seen coming from the North, where the mall was... I immediately scaled down the side of the building. I saw someone sleeping behind a car and 2 zombies standing around vacantly. After firing a couple clips into one, he dropped to the ground. I reloaded my pistol and started firing at the other zombie, after 2 clips I pulled out my shotgun reloaded fired it at him, he dropped to the ground. I walked back over to the church and decided to go to the gym and build some strength. Fearing for my own mortality, I figured it would help to be able to take a few more hits. When I reached the church, I said "Oh crud!". The door was completely sealed off. I should've checked that before I went out. Uh-oh...

Chapter 2: Long Road To Ruin

November 2008

November 19th: Anarchy has befallen the mall. Chaos, disorder, death, destruction. People went around ransacking, destroying generators and murdering innocent people. After a long battle, we pushed 'em out. We're still trying to re-power the area....

'A small poem, mostly scratched out is written...you can only read one verse.'

"...For every piece to fall in place Forever gone without a trace Your horizon takes its shape No turning back, don't turn that page..."

After what I had seen...it was horrific...the only good news was on the radio, a tactical strike led to the recapture of several malls in "The Red Zone". The area the zombies had wrecked and torn down. I gathered up remaining ammo from around the mall and walked up onto the roof. I looked out over the city...ruin was in the distance and closing in fast...

More poem is written here

"...One flag was taken down To raise another in its place...

...Long road to ruin there in your eyes No tomorrow, no dead end in sight...

...Running through hell, heaven can wait..."

A grand fire burned in my eyes, nothing like it...a fire powerful enough to destroy the whole town... Dear God, I've sealed my fate to be fed only by vengeance consumed by it... All I could think of was the one time we nearly lost this whole thing... Mall Tour '06... Caiger Mall was all that stood between us and death... That event in history was the whole reason my squad and I were dropped in. I salute those brave defenders of the past... Now I am a defender of the present! I RAISE THE FLAG OF HUMANITY FOR IT SHALL PREVAIL!
