History

This pub was made famous by its strict "Chaps only" clothing policy (1995), which stated that only chaps (commonly known as "assless chaps") were to be worn on the lower half of the body. The pub's name was then changed from the "Pen Island Arms" (which is ludicrously obscene) to the more fitting "Butland Arms".
