Ducimus

If you are a veteran player, you have seen and done all there is to do in Malton. And unfortunately, tedium goes hand-in-hand with experience. Many players' lives have become a cyclical routine of killing, dumping and cading, occasionally interrupted by a break-in. But even though you've basically done it all, maybe you don’t want to quit UD just yet. Quite simply, you really enjoy playing the game. Despite its simplicity, something keeps bringing you back. But still, you want something to spice up your UD life. You want a challenge.

Well, your challenge is here. Think you know UD? Then I'd like to offer you a spot in the Regiment.

Who We Are

The Regiment is not your typical group. We are a proof of concept. We want to offer veterans such as yourselves an opportunity to re-experience UD like never before. We want to help you reexperience the anxiety, the fear, and the addictive pull of uncertainty you felt in your first days at Malton. We want to help you make UD a more intellectually-satisfying experience, where your brain matters more than your equipment.

Interested? Then I'll put down the disclaimer here so I can chase away the lily-livered. Unless you are smart, you will die. A lot. What the Regiment is trying to do is something that has never been attempted by a mobile survivor group.

Simply put, we want to offer hardcore UD for hardcore players.

Still interested? Well then, read on.

Hardcore UD. For Hardcore Players

So far, the Regiment has promised you a miracle and a half. How will we deliver? Dead simple: the Regiment will only use in-game communication to coordinate mobile operations that will span the city. You read that right: in-game communication only. No metagame.

In-game communication will make even the simplest of group tasks a feat in coordination. AP will be spent just to be able to keep others informed. Just keeping up with your team on the move will be a challenge—fighting a battle as a part of an organized group will become an accomplishment.

If you join the Regiment, you can be sure that you’ll be in neck-deep while brain-storming ways to improve communication, learning codes and signals, and committing inevitable screw-ups that will get you separated from the team—finding them again will probably be an adventure in and of itself. Your battles with the Regiment will not be mindless skirmishes, but a thinking man’s game as you attempt to compensate for limited communication and AP with foresight and strategic acumen. If you don’t like to think strategically, then move on—you’re going to have a bad time.

Oh, and one last thing. I hope you have some room in your inventry. Remember all those radio sets, spray cans and flare guns you chucked away while looking for that pistol clip? I hope you like carrying things, because these "useless" items will become the most important things sitting in your inventory.

We Want a Few Good Men

Signing up for the Regiment not for the uncommitted: overcoming the challenges of in-game reporting will be a worthwhile, but a difficult, task. It will require solid commitment from everyone involved. If you are one of those players who log in once in a blue moon, then the Regiment doesn’t want you. We want people who enjoy this game enough to commit to a daily log-in. We want commitment, because the challenge demands no less.

If you like a challenge, if you’d like to try something completely different, and you think you are committed enough, smart enough, and crazy enough to be able to pull off something of this magnitude, shoot me an email: recruiting.theregiment@gmail.com.

We’ll sit down. We’ll chat. Get a feel for each other while the Regiment organizes. And when we have a few good men, we will rise together to do what none has done before.

until that time, Ducimus.
