Outbreak Beginnings

Before the outbreak Jason Valer was a lineman in one of Malton's telephone companies. He had been a US Army Ranger for nine years prior to moving to Malton. He was a communications specialist during his time in the the Army before having to be discharged after an accident during a training scenario. As word of the outbreak spread he stayed in his apartment complex, helping the others evacuate and other people that wandered through. As the city was locked down, he found himself alone in his apartment building with his hunting shotgun and pistol. He quickly began sealing off areas and raiding the kitchens of his former neighbors for food and other things he may need.

After a week he had scouted the suburb around his home, bringing people back with him. The band relied on one another to get by. One day after he and a few others made a scouting mission, they returned to find the barricades down and sign of a firefight, along with some zombie corpses. Upon exploring to the main apartments where the group stayed, they found half a dozen zombies feasting on their comrades, the three men immediately eliminated the threat and policed their friends bodies and put them in a locked room and wrote a short message and a list of the deceased names on the door to anyone who may stumble upon the place after the epidemic had ceased.

Early Outbreak

The small band proceeded to Caiger Mall where they heard a army of survivors had grouped themselves. During the infamous siege, the three were seperated and never saw one another again. Alone in a sea of unknown faces in an unknown place he pushed forward, killing the zombies who seemed to have become organized and dodging stray bullets from the murderers that frequented the mall in order to have their "fun" and even deranged people saying they had been "revived" from their zombie state. The siege seemed like it would never end until one day, the undead numbers decreased and then were almost practically gone.

After the seige, Jason made his way across the city. Roaming from safehouse to safehouse in search of any kind of familiar or friendly face. One day he found a crudely made flier proclaiming a group called "The Fortress". He used his cellphone to contact the man it mentioned, after receiving directions he trecked to Shackleville. Upon his arrival, he was met by three men, one the "Mouth" was the man he spoke with on the phone, the second was an armed man who didn't speak, the third kept his identity hidden and referred to himself as the "Head". An array of questions were asked, conversation was held and then Jason was accepted into the ranks of the Fortress.

Upon his arrival at the place designated "Fortress Four", Jason was given cheese and his assignment to the combat team known as the "Battlehawks".

Fortress Career

Upon his arrival he was assigned as a Deployement Squaddie in the combat team known as “Battlehawk”, led by a quiet commander known as Liquidbob. Then after Christmas day of 2006, a man stepped into the midst of the Hawks barracks, his name was Jensonson. Jason had heard about this man during his short career so far, he was here to lead them. With their old commander gone it seemed that the men took a liking to Jensonson very fast as an effective, charismatic and humorous leader.

Then one night, the smashing of wood and sounds of gunshot woke Jason. He saw them, several zombies had already made it inside with more outside. They had already taken to several sleeping members, as he raised his pistol at one of the undead, he noticed the bullet ridden body of Battalion Ranger Brent Baker, he had never known him past the occasional ‘Hi” but the holes puzzled him. Firing on a zombie making its way in the door, he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye. Then the figure moved to him in the shadows, his gun turned to the figure but it moved too fast for a zombie. His arm was pushed away as Commander Travis appeared in the light, smoking gun in hand. He told the Hawk to move our, to find a safe place and that he would send who he could to him to reassemble. Heading out before the main group, Jason secured multiple advanced safehouses ahead of the group as they moved. They finally came to their destination, Fortress Two.
