I woke up to find myself lying in the street. My clothes were in tatters, including a number of bullet wounds. The last thing I remembered before was the undead breaking down the barricades and swarming in, a burst of pain and then...

I'm just glad that I woke up hungry, an without the taste of human flesh in my mouth... it looks as though I didn't bite anyone else during my time as a zombie, but there is no telling if I actually killed anyone.

It's true, then. Somebody in this town has the technology to revive the zombies. With that being the case, it ought to have been possible to evacuate the city, capturing and curing even the dead. And yet the government makes no concerted effort to do so. The city seems to be not so much a disaster zone as a giant petri dish, and we are just the microbes waiting to be poked and prodded to see what we grow into.

Definitely NOT going to join up with any group that claims to still be part of the government...

June 12 2010 - 1st Entry

I've been in Malton for some time now, but too caught up in the day to day survival to worry about recording my thoughts. I don't know what the REMFs think they are doing, the situation here is FUBAR. New troops seem to be arriving every day, most of them so screwed up they barely know which end of a pistol to point at the Zeds. The rate at which the units get chewed up and spat up is insane - somebody needs to tell command that throwing men at the problem is only giving the Zeds new recruits. It's almost as if somebody in the CoC *wants* the dead to break out of Malton.

As a result, there are several of us here - US troops who have barely finished basic training. It's a hell of a way to gain combat experience, and the attrition rate is appalling, but those who survive for a few days soon develop the skills that Basic never gives you.

Unfortunately, those same troops tend to go native. There are few attempts to get organised. I'm considering trying to get together a small group of ex-military types like myself with similar levels of combat experience. Low level scouts, privates, and field medics who, whilst pissed at the CoC might still have enough of the basic soldier-to-soldier loyalty to form a solid core of survivors. Not sure how to go about recruiting, though - I've been making a few notes of those that seem to fit the bill but contacting them again is almost a matter of pure luck.

Gotta go. Something is scratching at the barricades.
