==Welcome (and a soft warning)==
==Ideas for the game==
Hey there, and welcome to the wiki. I'm one of the sysops around here (basically, an admin) and I figured I'd pop in to talk about a few things that you probably aren't aware of.
I have this idea to add expertise skills, every player could only use one of these skills at any given time, and learning a skill would take 50 AP to learn. Some of these skills are for humans, others are for zeds, but the idea is to add a second level to the game. This level would be for experienced players that want to be more efficient in a role, some of them just give the players new roles in the game. I want people to talk about my ideas on my page without attacking them, this is more for discussion than actual implementation. How these ideas could actually work in UD I don't know, but at the very least I can dream.
#Rather than typing "-JC" to sign your posts, try typing in <code><nowiki>~~~~</nowiki></code> (four tildes) at the end of your post. When you save the page, the wiki will automatically convert it into a signature with a timestamp (e.g. my customized one looks like: {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 18:34, 20 March 2015 (UTC)). We actually require that you do this, since otherwise pages become unreadable very quickly as we have no idea who said what or when they said it.
#I don't know what [http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php?title=UDWiki%3AAdministration%2FRe-Evaluations&diff=2240200&oldid=2240068 this stuff] is about, but could you make sure it doesn't happen again? If you're using a public computer, make sure you log off after you're done using it, since you're responsible for anything that your account is used to do. You're not in any trouble yet, but that could change if more stuff like that gets posted. I've cleaned it up for now, but please take steps to ensure it doesn't happen again.
#When you want to respond to someone, we respond by indenting right underneath their post that you want to respond to. To do an indentation, start your line off with a <code>:</code> (colon). That allows us to tell more easily who you're talking to, and allows us to keep track of the conversations as they branch. If you want to respond to a response, just add an extra indentation by adding an extra colon, and so on.
#Before you click "Save page" to save your edit, be sure to click "Show preview" first. It lets you check on your edit and make sure it's right before you save it. Making a lot of edits back-to-back-to-back when you could have previewed them until you had things right and then saved it once is considered rude by some people, since it clutters up the history for a page, as well as the list of [[Special:RecentChanges|recent changes]] on the wiki.

If you have any questions, you're welcome to respond here, or else you can pop over to [[User talk:Aichon|my talk page]] to ask questions there. We understand that getting started here can be a bit intimidating and that there's a lot of stuff going on that you don't always understand, so it's fine if you make some mistakes as you learn the ropes. We're here to help. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 18:34, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
==Limiting Power==
an idea to use a reoccurring xp cost for using a powerful item or ability. For example, with an Assault Rifle you would be limited to one Rifle, it costs 500xp to even search for one. It costs 500xp to search for an extra mag (you can only hold one at a time). You can also only obtain these items from a fort. Using the Assault Rifle grants no xp. An experienced player could use it for a long time, sure, but eventually they'll run out of xp and be brought on the same level as everyone else. Managing xp could be part of the game after all skills are bought.

Sure, sorry bout that, just trying to come up with a funny story. Some of that was from using a public computer. <code><nowiki>~~~~</nowiki></code> JC

:Just sign with four of these ~ and no coding around it (nowiki or code), and the wiki will automatically put in a signature and timestamp for you <small>-- [[User:Boxy|boxy]] 04:48, 29 March 2015 (BST)</small>
another idea to limit abuse would be to clean the slate of anyone wanting to use the new skills, this would help limiting power
::BTW, it wont add the link when you are signing here (on your own talk page), but will make your signature into a link automatically on other pages <small>-- [[User:Boxy|boxy]] 04:49, 29 March 2015 (BST)</small>

How do I do that exactly? I'm not very good at using this wiki, still learning the ropes. Plus I wanted to ask you if we could try and bring new players into UD, maybe first by making a FB page and trying other social medias.[[User:JoshCz|JoshCz]] ([[User talk:JoshCz|talk]])
:Your PayPal e-mail receipt has an e-mail address you can reach him at listed in it. Just send him an e-mail at that address, give him the confirmation number for your PayPal donation so he knows who you are and how much you donated, and tell him that you forgot to specify the characters when donating, then tell him which ones you're donating for. He usually acts on it within a few days. You'll know it worked, because when you check your character's profile while logged in, you'll see text saying "This character is no longer affected by the IP limit." at the bottom of the profile page.
:Regarding social media, I'm not really into that stuff, but I'm pretty sure there used to be a few different Facebook groups for UD, though most of them have wound down at this point since the game is so old. You're welcome to give it a shot though! :) {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 22:42, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

Hey Josh, I have done the exact same thing before with donating to Kevan but forgetting to type your user in. I emailed Kevan (I think at kevan@kevan.org but might want to double check) with my paypal transaction ID and the username in UD I wanted the donation to count towards. He did it in no time. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/a}} 16:01, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

Ideas for the game

I have this idea to add expertise skills, every player could only use one of these skills at any given time, and learning a skill would take 50 AP to learn. Some of these skills are for humans, others are for zeds, but the idea is to add a second level to the game. This level would be for experienced players that want to be more efficient in a role, some of them just give the players new roles in the game. I want people to talk about my ideas on my page without attacking them, this is more for discussion than actual implementation. How these ideas could actually work in UD I don't know, but at the very least I can dream.

Limiting Power

an idea to use a reoccurring xp cost for using a powerful item or ability. Managing xp could be part of the game after all skills are bought.

clean slate

another idea to limit abuse would be to clean the slate of anyone wanting to use the new skills, this would help limiting power
