The Nix Arms

Description

Humans and zombies alike will see the following (permanent) description when standing outside the building:

"You are standing outside the Nix Arms, a large concrete pub with stern gargoyles along its guttering."

The inside of this pub is dim, with thick black wood paneling laid over the concrete. The place is ancient, and the concrete structure probably enfolds a much older building. It smells strongly of tobacco.

Visitors are greeted upon entering by the Nix. The Nix is a weird old figure, carved in wood, of a man about 4 feet tall. He wears medieval attire and has exaggerated features - pointy ears, a bulbous nose, and unnaturally wide, open-mouthed grin. He is posed as if greeting visitors. The carving is old, very old, with cracks in the wood and faded, peeling paint.

Rumors about the Nix abound. He seems jaunty enough in the light, but when the old fireplace is lit, he takes on an unnatural caste. The face seems to animate, watching and mocking tavern patrons. Some say when the building is empty, the thing even moves around and partakes of the libations at times. Legend has it placing a coin in its mouth brings good luck.

There is a massive stone fireplace in the common area, and upstairs, there are two sleeping chambers formerly occupied by the owners.

History

Barricade Policy

In order to maintain service to the living, the Nix Arms is to be Extremely Heavily Barricaded at all times.
