IntroductionThe Malton Local Education Authority is the LEA for the city of Malton. The MLEA oversees and administers all of Malton's state run schools, whilst the private schools have only regular seasonal inspections to ensure maximum quality in Malton's education. Now, in this period of anarchy and unrest, the MLEA exists to keep Malton's schools and education facilities in pristine condition.
HistoryMain article: History The MLEA can trace its beginnings back to the early 1850s, where each month, one of Malton's Gentry had to donate a set amount of money to the council for the running of the Malton schools. The schools themselves were mismatched affairs, in a library one week, and in a pub the next. The Elevenstools School holds the record with classes held in over 500 different locations. However corruption was rife in the ranks and quite a few city counsellors were recorded as having being blackmailed and bribed so the Gentry didn't have to donate for a year or two. Rumours also circulated Malton that a West Grayside counsellor was assasinated by one particular, disgruntled person.
Luckily for the Gentry, the Government's 1870 Elementary Education Act introduced a Malton School Board with the first permanent school buildings built. The Malton school board was abolished in 1902 due to the introduction of the Education Act. CurriculumMain article: Curriculum For some reason long division and the theory of general relativity, whilst being useful in a classroom environment, have proved themselves to be next to useless in a zombie apocalypse. Due to this we have streamlined our Curriculum to provide a wide range of educational resources for the population of Malton. |
