Topic Overview
- What is Post Zombie Traumatic Stress Disorder (PZTSD)?
Post- zombie traumatic stress disorder (PZTSD) is a type of anxiety disorder that can develop after experiencing a traumatic event involving the "living dead". Even if you were not injured or in danger, you can still get PZTSD if you witnessed violence. Say for example, seeing your children eaten by the gardener.
The disorder is often associated with soldiers who cannot shake the terrible memories of battle. But there are many other people who get PZTSD, such as the wife of the soldier who is forced to destroy her reanimated husband's corpse with a lamp.
Post-zombie traumatic stress disorder can cause flashbacks, which are vivid, disturbing memories of the traumatic event. Many people also have sleep problems and nightmares. Feelings of detachment, guilt, or paranoia and sometimes panic attacks also can occur. People with PZTSD may also be at an increased risk for suicide or prone to violent outbursts. Heavy drinking and self-medication may occur.
Treatment for PZTSD is important to reduce symptoms and prevent future problems. PZTSD is common in the Age of Zombies, and most people are effected to some degree of another.
It is important that the afflicted not feel ashamed, this condition is merely your body's natural response to abnormal situations. The killing of zombie family, friends, and neighbors is very unnatural and crosses many moral lines.
The Zombie Warrior of today must rest assured that they have done what as necessary to preserve their own life and save the lives of others. Though the guilt maybe regrettable, it can be manageable. In extreme cases, counseling or medication may be beneficial.
