Store Opening in the Tollyton Suburbs of Malton
When President and CEO of Sears Holdings Corp.(SHC) Aylwin B. Lewis announced through internal memo that he planned on opening a Sears Automotive Center in Malton, England, the entire company was caught off guard. Stock prices plummeted, and everyone began damage control. Several key members of management left rather than deal with the repercussions of Mr. Lewis' new pet project. On January 1st, 2005 Aylwin and the remaining members of the upper management elite broke ground between Basher Row Railway Station and the Petty Monument. It seemed like the perfect place, just two blocks south of Woodroffe Mall made this Auto Repair Center in a prime location. April 20th, 2005 marked the grand opening and realization of Mr. Lewis' dream. Mr. Lewis personally hand-picked the store's General Manager himself. By June of '05 the franchise was the top money maker of all of SHC's Auto Centers. Prices of SHC's stocks soared to unheard of highs, surpassing Google's prices for almost three weeks. Mr. Lewis began planning a full roll out of all of SHC's various facilities throughout England. It seemed nothing would stop Sears from dominating the "big box" market.
David Makes A Wrong Choice
At the end of June '05 the shops Store General Manger (SGM) was hit by a car walking from the store to the Mall for his lunch break. He was instantly killed. The SGM opening was immediatly filled from a Sears store in Southern Illinois. The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) of Hardlines (hardware, electronics, and appliances) from a small "B" store deep in the heart of Southern Illinois was picked for the prestigious posting. His name was only know as "David". He reached Malton on the last day of June and started his first day at the store on July 1st, 2005. He sent this photo to his old store:
It was the last time anyone from 2181 every heard from him again.
One Day It All Went Wrong.
On 3 July 2005 the corporation of Sears lost contact with it's only Auto Center in England. After many repeated attempts at trying to make contact the company feared the worst. No one in the auto repair shop answered the phone, all emails went unreplied, and none of the frantic faxes sent were not recieved. Soon it became apparent the something had gone terribly wrong in the city of Malton. The news was sketchy, but dilligent internet surfers at the store David came from were able to piece together information on the situation in Malton. They were able to find out that the city had been quarantined and completly walled around. Little by little they were able to get a grasp on what was happening to the Sears flagship store and the city it sat in. What they learned horrified them.
On 7 July 2005 SHC corprate headquarters in Hawthorn Estates recieved a fax from the Malton facility. It only had two hand written words: "SEND HELP".
On the 10th of July a filthy, torn envelope was given to the Store General Manager (SGM) at a Sears "Great Indoors" in New York City. The nervous, obviously shaken man only said that he had promised to deliver it to someone from SHC. Before he ran out of the store, he told the SGM that everyone should "pray that those people get to rest in death.".
The envelope contained a blood stained photo taken the day of the grand opening and a frightening, handwritten note. In it was a story that no one could believe, at first. The SGM immediatly sent the contents of the envelope to SHC corporate HQ, where it was analyzed and studied to see if it was real, or a hoax.
