If you must design a new weopon, It's realy gotta add something to the game. At the moment we have lots of close-up weopons, and no-one wants to suggest a new gun, cos anything new will be shot down, gun-wise. Possibly your best bet would be a new variable in using the weopon, for example a weopon that is hard to use, like a heavy bike chain, where there is a chance that even a trained user is going to swing it round, only to hit themselves with it.
