Suggestion talk:20071123 Mob Maul, or Zombie Feeding Frenzy
How about adding that if there are already 10 zombies grasping the target you get the following message "The victim writhes just out of your reach... his body flailing under the onslaught of many other zombies!"--Honestmistake 19:06, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
A summary of most important parts of the suggestion:
- A zombie possessing Mob Maul will not break another zombie's Tangling Grasp.
- A successful hands attacks adds the Mob Maul effect to all normal Tangling Grasp bonuses.
- Mob Maul comes into effect on the next attack, when the attacker gains +1 HP damage on any successful attack.
- It is possible for more than one zombie to have a Tangling Grasp on a single victim -- if every new attacker possess Mob Maul.
- A missed attack has normal chance of losing Tangling Grasp AND Mob Maul.
I hope this is more clear. The rest is mostly "fine print". I had a hard time summarising this and making the entire mechanic concise for some reason, I'm sorry. I also felt that if I did not try to tie up as many loopholes as possible, people would just spam it to oblivion as too powerful or broken or whatever... --WanYao 22:26, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
I find step by step (procedural) desciptions are generally clearest (at least to me). In procedural terms, here's how I see the above translating-
- Zombie A (a zombie with Mob Maul) makes a claw attack vs Target T (attacking to do damage, and potentially establish tangling grasp). This does not break the grasp any other may zombie(s) have.
- Assume Zombie A successfully establishes a grasp. If Zombie B also has mob maul and also has a grasp on Target T, then both Zombie A and Zombie B get +1 damage on their next attack. (Max of +1 - they wont get another +1 from Zombie C with Mob Maul also having a grasp.)
Is that correct? Truth told, I suspect the code used for tangling grasp would need major modifications to make this work; the fact that one grasp breaks another is probably a side effect of the database structure only having space to store one grasp, which would seem a pain to work around. But OTOH, that's not an issue for voting. Swiers 02:08, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that's correct. And that is similar to how I had it worded originally, and everyone thought it was too confusing... :\ --WanYao 09:15, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
- Not a programmer but surely all that would be needed is a new field "mob maul" which did have the requisite number of fields and some way to keep track of whether or not someone else met the criteria for the +1 damage? Or is that just niavely simple of me ;) --Honestmistake 17:02, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
