The Angry Gnome
Its funny how the strangest things can seem normal with enough time. To others his life would be veiwed as strange, but the people in this city would be more then happy to live like he did. He lived in a ten by ten cell, was painted a brilliant white. The smell of so many chemicals hung in the air, he could recall the names of all the diffrent chemicals and disinfectants by their unique smells.
He heard the distinct sounds of a scientist's echoing footsteps. Seconds later a scientist accompanied by two uniformed gaurds entered to escort him through the days schedule. As they left his cell he turned for only a second to look at the inscription painted above the door to his cell. Subject seven, "Gnome." With a gentle shove from one of the gaurds as encouragement he walked further down the long hallway. Eventually he was brought to a junction, and he turned once more to see the inscription above his hallway. The inscription above it saidl, "Project Angry."
"Come on, do we have to do this every day?" one of the gaurds said. It was Joeseph, the gaurd that had been escorting him from his cell for the last, Jesus was it really that long, fifteen years. Joeseph was a muscular man of average height, with somewhat bland features. Light brown hair covered a thouroughly average face, if he didn't look like he took foty diffrent tyoes of steroids, no one would notice him.
"By now you could probably recite all the letters, in each of these inscriptions backward...while intoxicated," The other gaurd said. That was Micheal, he was much taller then average, and had a face that bespoke kindness and intelligence. He hadn't known Micheal for as long, just the last five years, but they had instantly become friends. He couldn't say the same about Joeseph, but a man built like that could scare a five year old.
Yes he had been here all his life, but he wasn't bored of this life. He was curious. Why was he here, and what did these people want with him? Before he could continue, he had arrived at his destination. It was a classroom, and at the lecterns table was a speaker...a diffrent speaker he was pleased to find. The speaker immediatley began, "Undeath..."
Unfortunatley it was still the same thing. The speakers always talked of zombies, medical facts, how to kill them, myths, realities, and even horde psychology. It was ridiculous to say the least. He had never left this compound, and even he knew that such a thing could never happen. The very idea that the undead could walk on their plane of existance was impossible, not to mention wrong on so many levels.
After a short introduction, the speaker said one thing that deystroyed his preconcieved notions of the outside world. "The city of Malton has been infested with these zombies for over a year now."
For the first time in many years he listened with an intense intrest, but it made him wonder...what city was this building in anyway?
Survivors Folly
They had been running for around a month now. They hadn't been able to find refuge, because to many people were concerned with nothing but their own survival. They hadn't even let the ten of them in. Now they had finally tired of running from barricade to barricade, of sleeping in shifts, of lying out in the rubble strewn streets, and finally of the constant zombie attacks. Using a collection of axes and crowbars, they tore down the barricades on a nondescript building.
They had soon ripped the barricades open and inside was...nothing...no one. Those @$$es had barricaded a building that they didn't even plan to live in. "Someone barricade that."
Whoever had said that was obviously to lazy to contribute, so why should they help him? Instead of barricading the entrance, everyone began to explore. It was sad really, how greed would kill them, but not before it had unleashed something else upon the ravaged city.
As one curious survivor searched the basment, he found a strange door. Giving in to curiosity, he hefted his axe and slammed it into the door. He continued untill the outer door had shattered, and exposed a second door made of steel.
Before he could alert the others to his discovery, a horrible graon echoed. He raced up the stairs to see a horde of zeds shambling down the street toward them. They quickly began rebuilding the barricades, but it would be for naught as the light barricades were torn down in seconds.
Blood leaped into the air, as axes and crowbars flashed threw rotten flesh, but they kept advancing. Shouts of fury, and fear laced the air, competeing with the groans of the undead. Life, undeath, it didn't matter. They would still have to shed blood to survive.
Emergence Day
He was in the training room now. In his hands he held a staff, and was moving through a graceful series of attacks. It was then that Micheal broke into the room. In a panic he shouted, "Zeds have entered the building!"
"Zeds?" was his only reply.
"Sorry I forgot that he wasn't going to speak to you 'till tomorrow. We had a survivor from Malton here to speak with you, but we needed him to brief the security teams first," Micheal quickly replied.
"But I thought that zombi-zeds were only found in Malton. Either way why would he need to brief the security team? I mean Maltons under lockdown!" he said. Then it dawned on him, and he quietly asked, "What city is this?"
"This installation is located in the city of Malton. You were raised from birth for the expressed purposes of defeating the undead menace."
"But zom-zeds have only been around for the last two years...why would..."
"Shut up! I'm here to take you to the armory before the zeds get any closer."
Micheal dragged him out into the hall, where they found Joeseph firing at several walking corpses with his MP5.
