Bio

Life was complicated for Ben McLeary before the outbreak. His marriage was falling apart, and he had a son he barely saw. The poor bastard's dog didn't even enjoy his company. Ben was living out of a cramped motel room off the freeway in Dulston when it happened. He didn't know what to make of the quarantine at first, few did, but one thing was certain, they weren't letting anyone in or out.

Minutes after he heard the radio broadcast Ben saw the smoke rising from Blaise General Hospital and immediately headed for the door. His unit was already on the scene, Ben would have been there too had he not been suspended the week prior for drinking on the job. Instinctively, Ben joined his comrades in their efforts to extinguish the flames. Nothing about the fire was ordinary especially the reactions of the survivors that were thought to be "trapped" inside. Ben retrieved a fire axe from a nearby truck and approached the entrance of the burning building only to discover it had been barricaded from the inside.

As he drew closer to the barricade it became clear that the fire had been set intentionally, almost strategically. Puzzled, Ben turned around to relay his discovery to the other men. It took him a moment to comprehend what was happening before him. A small group of civilians made up of two men and three teenage boys lurched towards the fire truck. Their movements were unnatural but intentional, their goal was set. They descended upon the group of firemen well before Ben could lend aid. He watched in horror as his partners, his friends, were torn apart by the claws and teeth of the mob.

He readied his axe and prepared to defend himself when a suddenly a hand emerged from a gap in the barricades and pulled him inside the hospital. As he processed the gruesome event he had just witnessed a doctor and a nurse positioned a filing cabinet to fill the gap through which Ben had just been retrieved. Ben wanted answeres but was only offered the protection of the barricaded hospital. That night he slept for the last time without dreaming. He awoke to a radio broadcast, through the static and screams he could make out only two words, a name. "Trevor Gorge".

Ben knew he couldn't leave Malton, so searching for his family would be an act of futility. He didn't know the reason for the quarantine, but now he knew someone who might. So, with axe in hand, Ben left the safety of the hospital walls with one thing on his mind. "Find Trevor Gorge". A once complicated existence became simple, find this Trevor and stay alive...
