The Beginning

Johnny looked out across the dark suburb of Pescodside. He was safe for the moment, hiding on the 3rd floor of the Newcombe Towers. There were a few lighted buildings in the area, but most had been ransacked by zombies. He could hear screams in the streets below when the zombies caught up with their human prey. He quietly thought to himself about his childhood in Malton.

He grew up in Tollyton, on Cunningham Street. His best friend, Tripp Redfield, grew up nearby on Prowse Way. When they turned 18, they enlisted in the military together. They were stationed at Fort Creedy when the outbreak occured. During that time, Johnny was sent to protect Pescodside. He didn't know where Tripp was sent to. For over a year and a half, they held up against the zombies. In the end, they were finally overrun. However, Johnny managed to escape.

Now, he was hiding out in the Newcombe Towers. He was out of ammo, but he had plenty of food and water there. "How could this have happened?" he said quietly to himself. Suddenly, there was a crash down below. He already knew what was happening. The zombies had broken into the building. He didn't have much time to act. He ran into the stairwell. They were already coming up. He ran up the stairs, using his last few pistol clips to shoot at them.

He reached the roof and ran to the fire escape only to discover that it had collapsed. He frantically searched for another way to escape. As he looked over the edge of the building, he noticed that the fire escape for the building next door was still standing. It was about ten feet away from him. It was the only way. If he didn't make the jump, he would fall to his death. If he stayed where he was, he would become a zombie. He turned around as the zombies reached the roof. He took a deep breath, and with a running start, jumped off the building.

Old Friends

The fire escape shook as Johnny landed on it. He quickly climbed down to safety. However, he wasn't out of the woods yet. Zombies in the area had heard the commotion and were approaching him. He was out of ammo, so he ran as fast as he could in the opposite direction.

He arrived at a police station, but it was sealed tight. "For the love of God, let me in!," he screamed, banging on the barricades. He turned around. About fifteen zombies had cornered him and were going in for the kill. He backed up against the wall, and realizing there was no way out, he accepted his fate.

Suddenly, a set of headlights came over the zombies. Moments later, the zombies were wiped out in a hail of gunfire. The lights cut off, and Johnny saw that they were floodlights for a large pickup truck. Around the truck was a group of about ten people, all wielding shotguns. At the front of the group was none other than Tripp Redfield.

"Johnny, is that you?" Tripp asked. "Oh my God," Johnny said. "Tripp, you're alive!" "Well of course I'm alive," Tripp said. "Did you think a few zombies would be able to kill me?" One of the men asked Tripp, "Tripp, who is this guy?" "This is Johnny Naylz," he replied. "We're old friends." "Where have you been?" Johnny asked. "I'll tell you everything back at headquarters. It's too dangerous here," Tripp replied. He then jumped in the back of the truck, and Johnny got in, too.

They arrived at HQ, which turned out to be Groser Crescent Police Department. They walked up to the barricades, and a voice within said,"Password." "Phoenix," Tripp said. The door opened, and they walked inside. The voice belonged to a large, middle-aged man behind the door. "This is Pete," Tripp said as the man sealed the door behind them. "Go tell Requiem that we're back and we have a guest," Tripp told one of the men. He and Johnny then entered an office near the front of the police department and shut the door.

"Requiem?" Johnny asked. "Strikler Craigmont. He's our leader. We call him Requiem." "Oh," Johnny replied. "Well, now that all that's out of the way, where have you been?" Tripp replied,"My division was sent to protect East Grayside, but we only lasted a few months. I've been wandering the city ever since, searching for food, water, and ammo." He motioned toward the others. "They're the remnants of a group of freedom fighters from Spracklingbank. Their group was wiped out as well. I joined up with them in Gibsonton a few weeks ago, and we've been killing or reviving zombies ever since." "Reviving them?!" Johnny blurted out, stunned. "Yeah, after the outbreak, NecroTech scientists were able to create a revivification medicine. You didn't know about it?" "No," Johnny said, still stunned. "Well, we have a scientist with a case of syringes here. His name's Alex. You'll meet him later."

Suddenly, a man walked into the office. He appeared to be in his late sixties, yet he was tall and muscular. He wore an old, tattered army uniform with a faded picture of a phoenix on the left shoulder. "Johnny, I would like you to meet Requiem," Tripp said.

Union

"It's good to meet you," Requiem said, extending his hand to Johnny. "From what Tripp's said about you, you should be a valuable member of the team." "Thanks," Johnny said. "Well, what should I do first?" "Tripp, take him to meet some of the team members," Requiem said. "Yes sir," Tripp said. "Come on, Johnny." With that, they walked out of the room.

They walked down a hallway that led to the back of the building, and they entered the room with the prisoners' cells. Inside one of the cells, there was a zombie strapped to a table. A man was trying to hold him down while a woman injected him with a syringe. "We picked him up this morning. They're trying to revive him," Tripp said. The zombie passed out after he had been injected. The two people walked toward Tripp and Johnny. The man introduced himself and the woman. "Hi, I'm Professor Alex Johnson. This is my assistant, Doctor Sally Anne Bowman." "Nice to meet you," Sally said to Johnny. She looked back at the zombie. "He should be back to normal soon." Just to be sure, however, she closed the cell door. Suddenly, a young man came down the stairs. Tripp told Johnny his name was Combateer. "Requiem's called a meeting upstairs. He told me to come get you," Combateer said. They then followed him back up to the main room.

When they got there, there was a crowd of about 40 men in the room. Requiem was standing at the front, and there were five men standing with him. Three of them were holding shotguns. "Everyone, this is Charles Taylor. He is the leader of a survivor group in Gibsonton. Next to him is his lieutenant, Jessie Williams."

"Hello everyone," Taylor said. He motioned toward the three men with shotguns. "Don't mind my bodyguards. Now, I believe our groups should form a union to rid Malton of the zombie threat forever. In order to do this, we should use our man power to clear out our respective suburbs, recruiting other survivors along the way. Then, with a strong foothold, we could move on to clear out the rest of Malton. Now, to start, we should..." He stopped as his mobile phone started ringing. "One moment." He answered the phone. "What is it, Gibbs? Hold on, we're on the way." He hung up. With a blank expression, he said, "My men have been pinned down by a zombie horde on Kearney Drive."

"We've gotta help them!" someone in the room shouted. Everyone began talking loudly amongst each other. "Quiet!" screamed Requiem. "We're going to help them! Grab as much ammo as you can and head to the trucks!" "Come on!" Tripp shouted to Johnny. "There's ammo in the back room!" They ran to the back room and filled their pockets with pistol clips. As they ran out of the room, Johnny heard someone shouting from one of the cells. "Where am I?! What's going on?! Help!" He ran toward the cell. When he got there, he discovered that the shouting had come from the zombie he had seen earlier, only now, he was alive. "Who are you?!" the man screamed at Johnny. "Let me outta here!" "My name's Johnny Naylz," Johnny said to him. "You were a zombie, but the doctors here were able to revive you." "You mean with one of those syringes?! I thought those were a myth!" the man replied. "Well, they aren't," Johnny said. "Now, our allies have been pinned down by a zombie horde and we've gotta go help them. Will you join us?" "Sure," the man said. "Great!" Johnny said, opening the cell door. He gave the man a pistol and a few clips, then they ran towards the front of the building. "By the way, my name's Oblivion," the man said as they ran.

Rescue

They jumped in the back of one of the trucks with Tripp. "Who's he?" Tripp asked. "This is Oblivion," Johnny said. "He was the zombie that Alex and Sally just revived. He wants to join us." "Awesome!" Tripp said. "We need all the help we can get!"

After about ten minutes of riding, they reached the scene. It was chaotic. Men were hiding behind dumpsters and in alleyways. A few had taken sniper positions on nearby fire escapes. There were zombies everywhere. A few desperate men were even fighting off the zombies in hand-to-hand combat. Requiem and his men jumped out of the trucks. Fifteen men with shotguns lined up to form a firing squad. The others took flanking positions. "Fire!" Requiem shouted. As he gave the order, gunfire reigned down on the horde. Charles, Jessie and their bodyguards followed Tripp and his seven men to flank from the right. Johnny and Oblivion took eight men to flank from the left.

As Tripp and his men approached from the right, about twenty zombies approached them. They were only able to fire off a few rounds before the zombies reached them, and they were forced to resort to hand-to-hand combat. Meanwhile, Johnny and Oblivion had done significant damage from the left (this was mainly because the snipers were on that side of the street). The zombies were unable to reach Requiem and the firing squad without getting gunned down.

During this time, Tripp had lost five of his men in the fighting and was separated from the other two. Suddenly, Charles told his bodyguards to fall back, leaving Tripp to fend for himself against five zombies. He was out of ammo, but he wasn't about to go down without a fight. He pulled out his army knife and stabbed one of the zombies in the head. Johnny saw Tripp's predicament from across the street and rushed to help him. He killed three of the zombies with his pistol while he was running. A surprised Tripp looked up to see who was coming to his aid as the other zombie moved toward him. Johnny got there just in time to knock Tripp out of the zombie's way. As a result, the zombie sank it's teeth into his left shoulder. Tripp jumped up and killed the zombie with his knife. "Are you alright?" he asked. "Yeah, I'm fine," Johnny said. "He only bit into my jacket. He didn't break the skin."

Meanwhile, Oblivion, Requiem, and the others had finished off the horde. Johnny and Tripp looked toward the trucks. Charles said something to Requiem, shook his hand, and then loaded up with the rest of his men and drove off. Everyone else regrouped at the trucks and counted their losses. Eight of the men had died in the fighting. Tripp approached Requiem. "Sir, what was the matter with Charles and his men? They abandoned me out there!" "He explained that to me," Requiem said. "They had to go help some of their men that had been trapped in an alley. They didn't realize that you had lost all of your men. They just left to head back to their headquarters. They'll stay in contact through radio." He then turned to Oblivion and shook his hand. "That was excellent fighting out there. It's good to have you with us." "Thank you, sir," Oblivion replied. "Alright! Everyone load up!" Requiem shouted. Johnny stumbled as he climbed into the back of the truck. "Are you sure you're alright?" Tripp asked. Johnny replied, "Yeah, I guess I'm just a little woozy from the fighting."

They returned to headquarters. It was late, and the men went to bed. Alex, who had stayed behind with a few others to guard the police department, took Johnny to an office down a dark side hallway. "You can sleep in here," he said. "Thanks," Johnny replied. Alex then left Johnny alone to get some sleep. Johnny looked in a closet in the room and found an old blanket. He lied down on the floor and covered himself with the blanket. As he lied there, he started feeling sick. He became very light-headed. He tried to stand up and call for help, but he couldn't get the words out and fell back on the floor. "What's happening to me?" he thought to himself. He ripped off his shirt and looked at his left shoulder. There were teeth marks there. The zombie had infected him and he didn't even notice it...

Losses

It was 2:30 in the morning. Everyone was asleep except for the watchmen at the door. Alex was awake as well. He was having trouble sleeping. Tripp had told him what Taylor and his men had done to him, and he couldn't stop thinking about it. "It just doesn't make sense," he thought to himself. He decided that something to drink would help put him to sleep, so he got up and left the cell he was laying in.

He walked down the hallway and turned onto the corridor where Johnny was sleeping. There was an old drink machine there. He gave it a good kick, and out popped a Pepsi. He opened it and took a sip. It was old and tasted bad, but drink was scarce in Malton. As he leaned against the wall drinking his drink, he heard something moving to his right. He strained his eyes in the darkness, but then realized that it was Johnny standing in the hallway. "Johnny, what are you doing up?" Alex asked. Johnny said nothing, but started walking toward Alex. It was then that Alex realized what had happened to Johnny. "Oh my God," he mumbled, backing up slowly. He started to run, but it was too late. Johnny grabbed him and bit him in the arm. Alex screamed as Johnny ripped his flesh.

Instantly, everyone was awake. Tripp, Requiem, and Sally were the first to reach the corridor. Johnny dropped Alex's dead body and looked up at the people frozen in shock. "Dear God," Requiem said to himself. Johnny stood up and started moving towards them. "Shoot it!" one man yelled. "Wait!" screamed Tripp. "Don't shoot! Everyone get out of sight, I'll lead him to the cells! Everyone ran and locked themselves in offices while Tripp backed his way into the cell block. Johnny turned, as if to follow the men, but instead decided to follow Tripp. Tripp had made it to the cell block when he tripped. He scrambled to get back up, but Johnny caught up and grabbed onto him. Suddenly, Oblivion, who had been hiding in one of the cells, jumped out and knocked Johnny into another cell. He then shut the door.

"That was close. How could this have happened?" Oblivion asked. "A zombie must've bit him earlier," Tripp said. As they talked, they heard an inhuman scream upstairs. A few moments later, Combateer and three other men entered, carrying Alex's lifeless body and placed it in another cell. Sally came down, holding a tazer. "He became a zombie," she said. "I found this and stunned him." "Now what?" asked one of the men. "Now, we revive these two. Tom, you know where the syringes are. Go get two of them. Leon and Mike, you two will have to hold them down while I revive them."

A few minutes later, they had Alex strapped to a table. While Leon and Mike held him down, Sally gave him the shot. However, it didn't seem to have any effect. "That's strange," Sally said, becoming worried. She took out the DNA extractor that she received while she worked at NecroTech and stuck it in Alex's arm. She then took it out to read it. When she read it, a blank expression came over her face, and she dropped the extractor. Leon picked it up to see what it said. "Cortex damaged," he read aloud. "Do not attempt to revive." "Wait, we can't revive him?" Mike asked. "Well what are we supposed to do?" "The only thing we can do; kill it," Tripp said sullenly. He opened the door and put his pistol to Alex's head. "I'm sorry," he whispered to Alex as he pulled the trigger...

Johnny woke up, strapped to a table in the cell block. "What is this?! Help!" he screamed. "He's awake!" someone in the hallway shouted. Then, Tripp, Requiem and a few others ran into the room. They opened the cell door and untied Johnny. "What happened?" Johnny asked. "Come with me, we need to talk," Requiem said. They walked upstairs and passed through the lobby. Sally was sitting there gloomily. She looked like she had been crying. They continued walking until they reached Requiem's office. He shut the door and sat down.

He sighed, then began to explain. "Johnny, you became a zombie and killed Alex, which resulted in him becoming a zombie, too. We were able to revive you." "Then you were able to revive Alex as well," Johnny said. "Where is he?" "That's the thing," Requiem said. "His cortex was damaged, so we couldn't revive him. We had to kill him." A look of horror came over Johnny's face. "No, y-y-you can't be serious," he muttered. "NO!" With that, he ran out of the office. "Johnny!" Requiem screamed. Johnny kept running, pushed through the watchmen, and ran out into the darkness.

Revelations

A week passed. Requiem and the others had been relatively inactive. They stayed in the safehouse, venturing out only in search of needed supplies. Sally hadn't said much since the events of the previous week. She was depressed at the loss of Alex. Tripp was worried about Johnny, but he felt it was his duty to not dwell on it and keep working toward stopping the zombie threat. Taylor stayed in contact through radio. He occasionally contacted Requiem to discuss events in the two suburbs.

Leon found Sally sitting alone in one of the offices. "Are you gonna be alright?" he asked her. "I'm okay," she said quietly. "Look, we all miss Alex. He was a good friend." "It was Johnny's fault," she said scornfully. "If he hadn't have shown up, this wouldn't have happened." "You can't blame this on Johnny," Leon replied. "It's not like he knew he had been infected. Besides, if it hadn't have been for him, Tripp would've died in that fight last week." She sighed. "I guess you're right. But we were so close to reviving Alex. We had the syringe and everything! A damaged cortex. Why did it have to be Alex?" "I don't know," Leon said. "I guess he just wasn't meant to come back."

Johnny had spent the week moving from safehouse to safehouse, constantly in search of food, water, and ammo. He killed zombies whenever he had the chance. After a week, he had made his way to an old warehouse in Gibsonton. He was on looking for fuel for the generator when he heard gunshots outside. He looked out a window and saw men from the police department across the street coming out to shoot at a horde of zombies that were attacking them. Among them were Taylor and Jessie. "That must be their headquarters," Johnny thought to himself.

Within a few minutes, there wasn't a moving zombie left on the street. Jessie walked up to a zombie laying near the warehouse and shot it in the head to make sure it was dead. Taylor walked up to him. Johnny was now within hearing range. "That was close," Jessie said. "Well, it's over now," Taylor replied. "Back to the plan. Remember, I'll get Requiem and his men out of the way and get the syringes. You just go make sure the contact is ready for us. Take one of the trucks." "Yes sir," Jessie replied.

Taylor walked back into the police department with the men while Jessie walked to a line of trucks. Johnny ran outside and hid behind the corner. When Jessie drove by, Johnny jumped into the back of the truck. He smashed the back window and pointed a pistol at Jessie's head. "Stop the truck," he said. "Johnny! What are you doing here?!" Jessie asked, bewildered. "Stop the truck!" Johnny shouted. Jessie slammed on the brakes. Johnny then knocked him out with the pistol butt.

Jessie woke up in a dark room tied to a chair. Johnny was sitting right across from him. "What are you up to?" Johnny asked him. "What are you talking about?" Jessie asked. Johnny hit him in the face with a lead pipe and screamed, "What are you up to?!" "I'm not gonna tell you anything!" Jessie shouted. "We'll see about that," Johnny replied. He pulled out a knife and started making slow, deep cuts across Jessie's arms as he screamed in pain.

"Alright everyone! Listen up!" Requiem had called a meeting and was addressing everyone. "Taylor has contacted me, and we've organized a mission to retake Croom Towers from the zombies. It's a good strategic location, seeing as how it's near a fire station, NecroTech building, factory, and a hospital. We will move in first, and Taylor and his men will arrive as soon as possible. The attack is to begin immediately, so everyone head to the trucks!" Sally, Leon, and a few others decided to stay behind and guard headquarters.

Tripp ran outside and jumped in a truck with Requiem. As they rode, Requiem noticed that Tripp appeared to have his mind on something. "I'm sure Johnny's fine," he said. "He's survived for two years in this mess. He's knows how to stay alive."

"Alright! I'll tell you everything!" Jessie screamed, covered in blood. "Good," Johnny said, sitting back down. "That wasn't so hard, now was it?" Jessie told him the plan. "As you know, those revivification syringes don't come cheap. They're like gold in this city. Well, we found out that there is a password that high-ranking officials use to get in and out of Malton. We have a contact that is willing to give us the password if we can get him some syringes. We discovered that you and your friends had syringes and came up with a plan to take them. We decided to make you think we were joining forces to fight the zombies. Right now, your friends are on their way to Croom Towers to fight an overwhelming zombie horde, thinking that we're on our way to help. Instead, Taylor and his men are on their way to your headquarters. They're gonna kill the few guards, take the syringes to the contact, get the password, and be on the next convoy out of Malton."

"You son of a *****," Johnny said. "It's too late," Jessie said. "You can't save them." Those were Jessie's last words. As he said them, Johnny put a bullet in his head. He then ran out to the truck and raced toward Pescodside...

With Honor Comes Strength

"Do you think they'll be alright?" Sally asked Tom, looking out a window into the starless night. "Of course," Tom replied. "Requiem's leading them. He knows what he's doing." "Wait, who's that?" Sally asked. "Two Hummers just pulled up outside!" About 30 men jumped out of them and headed to the entrance. Taylor was at the front. He knocked on the barricade entrance. "Open up!" he shouted. "We've got important news!" "Go find Leon," Tom said. "I'll let him in."

Sally headed off toward the back in search of Leon. As she walked off, Tom opened the door, expecting only Taylor to come in. Instead, the whole group of men rushed through the door, and a couple of men held Tom up against the wall. "What's going on!" Tom screamed. "I said I had important news," Taylor said calmly. "You're all going to die." Then, with a malicious smile on his face, he shot Tom in the head. "Search the building!" he shouted. "The syringes are here somewhere!"

Sally and Leon heard the commotion and ran to the weapons room, preparing for a shootout. There were shouts and gunshots throughout the building; there were about ten others guards there and they had already engaged the new enemy. Leon and Sally ran out into the hallway, but they instantly dove into rooms on opposite sides of the hall, dodging gunfire. Mike came running up the hall toward Taylor's men, firing off shotgun shells with a look of insanity on his face. "TAKE THAT, YOU LYING *******S!" he screamed. "Mike, NO!" shouted Sally and Leon at the same time. However, it was too late. Although he had managed to kill five men in his rage, Mike was dead.

Three more men came running from the direction Mike had come, but they ducked inside rooms for cover, shooting at the men blocking the other end of the hall. "Everyone else is dead!" one of the men shouted to Leon. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "How could we have trusted these people?" he thought to himself.

Johnny was thinking the same thing as he slammed on brakes outside of the police department. He could tell that the front had been overrun, and he was low on ammo. Going in that way would be suicide. He knew there was a back door, but it was extremely heavily barricaded. With no other solutions, he floored it and drove the truck straight into the building.

Taylor's men scattered as Johnny drove into the lobby. Half of the building had collapsed, causing a cloud of dust to cover the building. Johnny didn't have much time. He jumped out of the truck, using the ammo he had left to shoot anyone in sight. He stayed low to avoid gunfire and took off down what was left of the hallway. As he ran, Leon, Sally, and the others saw him. "Johnny!" they shouted, but he ignored them and ran toward the weapons room. He reached it and began filling his pockets with pistol clips. Suddenly, he noticed a grenade laying on a shelf. "This should be interesting," he said to himself as he ran back out into the hall.

"GET DOWN!" he shouted to Sally, Leon, and the others. He then pulled the pin and threw the grenade down the hall. Suddenly, he realized that he'd thrown the grenade right at the truck. The grenade exploded, which in turn caused the truck to explode, which caused the entire building to collapse.

Johnny found himself under a pile of rubble, bruised and bloodied yet he was still okay. He managed to pull himself out and staggered around, looking for other survivors. He saw a few of Taylor's men crawl out of the rubble and run away, but he was too woozy to shoot at them. As he walked through the rubble, he found the dead body of Charles Taylor. He shot him a few times to make sure he was dead. "Johnny!" Sally shouted as she climbed out of the rubble. "What are you doing here?!" "There's no time to explain," Johnny said. "Tripp and the others are in danger. We have to save them." "We'll need syringes," Sally said. "Too late," said another voice. They turned to see Leon standing a few yards away, holding the smashed box that contained the syringes. "They're all broken," he said solemnly. They looked around. There were no more survivors. "Come on!" Johnny shouted, and they sped off in one of the Hummers.

"Everyone spread out! Kill any zombies you find!" shouted Requiem. They had just arrived at the Croom Towers and were now entering the ransacked building. Tripp took 5 men upstairs. "Don't forget, we'll stay in contact through mobile phones!" Requiem shouted as he took another five down a hallway. Oblivion and Combateer took five men upstairs as well. Oblivion's group went to the second floor, while Tripp's group went to the fourth floor.

As Tripp's group rounded a corner, they ran right into a horde of around 25 zombies. "FALL BACK!" Tripp screamed as two of his men were ripped apart by the zombies. He and his remaining men tried to barricade themselves in one of the rooms. They wouldn't be safe for long.

Johnny, Leon, and Sally pulled up in front of the Croom Towers. Johnny handed a pistol to Sally. "Don't let anything come near the Hummer," he said. He and Leon then ran into the building. They could hear screams and gunshots from every direction. "Upstairs!" Johnny shouted. They entered the stairwell and began running up. They soon realized that zombies were coming down the stairs, and they escaped onto the third floor.

As soon as they entered the third floor, they saw 5 zombies coming down the hallway. They shot at them and slowly backed into a room. Leon, however, moved too slow. The zombies grabbed him and began biting into his flesh. "LEON!" Johnny screamed. He tried to shoot the zombies before they killed Leon, but it was too late. He backed into the room and locked the door, but the zombies broke through moments later.

The zombies had broken into Tripp's room. They tried to hold them off, but there were just too many. Within moments, Tripp was the only one left alive in the room. He only saw one way out, so he ran out to the balcony. He climbed over the railing and tried to reach the balcony of the next room. However, the zombies had reached the balcony and were trying to grab Tripp. As he shook them off, he fell.

Luckily, he managed to grab hold of the railing of the balcony below. He pulled himself up and ran into the hallway. He was instantly confronted by a group of zombies who seemed to be concentrating on a room across the hall. He could hear gunshots coming from the room. He managed to shoot his way through the zombies and made it into the room, only to find Johnny Naylz standing behind a table. They stared at each other in shock. "Johnny! How did you find us?" "Long story," Johnny said, checking to make sure the hallway was clear of zombies.

Suddenly, Tripp got a call on his mobile phone. It was Requiem. "TRIPP! WE NEED BACKUP IN THE KITCHEN! WE'VE BEEN OVERRUN!" "DON'T WORRY! JOHNNY'S HERE, AND WE'RE ON THE WAY!" Tripp shouted. "REQUIEM'S IN TROUBLE!" he shouted to Johnny as they ran to the stairwell.

As they ran down the stairs, they ran into Oblivion and Combateer. "Everyone else is dead!" they shouted. "Requiem's pinned down in the kitchen! We've gotta help him!" Tripp shouted.

They finally made it to the kitchen, and they saw that Requiem was the only one left alive. He was backed up against a wall, and he was surrounded by ten zombies. He tried to shoot them, but they grabbed him and began eating him alive. He let out a sickening scream as Johnny, Tripp, Oblivion, and Combateer all shot at the zombies. They managed to kill all of them, but Requiem had been infected. "WE NEED A SYRINGE!" Tripp shouted. "They're all gone!" Johnny replied. "Taylor and his men betrayed us! They attacked HQ and the syringes were broken!" Tripp just stared at him with a blank expression on his face.

"Men," Requiem said weakly. They all ran and knelt down beside him. "You're gonna be fine," Tripp said, holding back tears. "I'll be one of them soon," Requiem said. "I trust you will do what needs to be done." He looked around at everyone. "It's been an honor fighting along side you. You are the bravest men I've ever met, and I'm proud of you. Our group has been wiped out, but the phoenix has to rise up from the ashes. And always remember, with honor comes strength..." he trailed off as he became what he had spent two years fighting against.

Tripp, who couldn't bear to see him this way, looked in the other direction as he shot him. Suddenly, they heard feeding groans coming from the stairwell. "We've gotta get out of here," Oblivion said. They ran out the door just as zombies began piling into the lobby. They ran outside to the Hummer. Tripp jumped in the driver's seat and they sped off.

It seemed as though zombies were appearing out of nowhere. A zombie horde had blocked the road. "TAKE THIS, YOU UNDEAD *******S!" Tripp screamed as he floored it, running them over while Johnny, Combateer, Oblivion, and Sally leaned out the windows shooting as many as they could. Tripp finally managed to tear through the horde, and they made their way back to headquarters.

"What happened here?!" Oblivion shouted as he looked at what was left of headquarters. "My bad," Johnny said. "We can't stay here anyway," Sally said. "The rest of Taylor's group is surely gonna come after us. We need to find a safe place to stay." "The phoenix has to rise up from the ashes," Tripp said, as if he had just awaken from a dream. "We'll form a new survivor group. We'll be known as the Phoenix Division." "We need to find a new headquarters," Combateer replied. Johnny looked off in the direction of Tollyton. "It's time to go home," he said.
