-The Happy Wanderer - Walking Malton
I, Mark Antony, former ULC member in the Caiger Mall and defender of the mall during the last seige have decided to walk Malton. Since the end of the seige there hasn't been much to do around Caiger and this is why i decided to go to place i have never been before. I will update this regulary with information to where i am and hows things are going. I am stocked up on guns, faks and revivification syringes so that along the way i can help people in need.
I began on the 21st of May 2006.
I am actually doing this and the stories i post will be of what has actually happened during my journey. I probably will not post the exact locations of my resting places for my own safety. Some people might try to ruin my journey and kill me altough you might see me if you are lucky and if you do, please say hello.
-21st May 2006 - Left Caiger Mall, Destination - Milton
I left Caiger Mall, the once bustling warzone. The bodies and the hundreds of zombies have now all but moved on and a peaceful air rolls over the place. I entered Caiger Mall during the last seige and was there to celebrate the victory. I wouldn't say i was huge part in the defence of the mall but i did my bit, and i hope my bit counted. Now its quiet there and its time, like other Caiger Mall defenders have done, to move on. So i snuck out in the early hours of the morning through one of the holes in the barricade and headed off down the street, my backpack loaded with supplies for my journey. There are no zombies around, this makes me think that maybe we have one and all the zombies are gone. I quickly dismiss this thought as madness, all those zombies can't have died! its impossible, so many. I continue on...
I enter East Becktown, its about mid day, this place is a lot different than the place i had come from. I guess they didn't have hundreds of the zombie hordes running around here. One thing was the same though, it hit me as soon as i entered this place, the smell. The same smell of death and sadness that lay all over Maldon. Sometimes i wish things would just go back to the way they had been before. Then the smell was of laughter and joy. Some people may argue that these things do not smell, but they do, you just have to know what to look out for. The memories in my head remind me of the smell and i try to hold onto it for aslong as possible, but its gone. I continue walking only stopping to gather my position and to show the correct respect to the few bodies that lay upon the ground. Aslong the way i find a revive point and decide to help out, i stick my needles in two of the zombies and watch there bodies fall to the ground and twitch. I decide to go on before they can get up to thank me, i have no time for thanks, i got places to be.
The day goes on and i begin to grow more tired. Maybe i shouldn't of brought so much stuff with me. Did i really need all this weaponry and medical supplies? I guess the answer was probably yes, but it didn't stop me wishing the answer was no. Its now late afternoon and i decide to call it a day and find somewhere too sleep for the night. I walk a few streets, trying doors and looking for holes in the surrounding buildings. Then i see it, its lights twinkling outwards and a large green cross on the side. A hospital, perfect. I make my way towards it and i soon find a gap to enter, i guess i'm not the only one going in or out of this place. I make my way down the hallway and past several people resting on beds. I find a new corner and throw down my backpack, my back screams out in relief. Its good to get that weight off and it will be even better to sit down and read that old paper i found, but first thing is first, time to get some supplies. I search the area for hours and it begins to get dark outside, all i have found is one first aid kit. I guess its better than nothing so i return to my corner and sit down, my back resting upon my backpack. I pull out the old newspaper and begin to read, apparantly the local football team won. Thats about as far as i get begore falling asleep. One day gone.
22nd May 2006 - Leaving Hospital, East Becktown
I woke up pretty early in the morning like usual. I couldn't see anyone else around so i decided to take a wake about. I entered one of the rooms and found a man lying on a bed, another man was leaning over him. I moved into inspect the situation closer, the man on the bed had a deep gash in his arm that the other man was attending too. I decided it was a good idea for me to help so i quickly ran back to my backpack and got one of my own first aid kits and went back. We spent a while stitching the mans arm up and putting a bandage on it until the man was good as new, well almost. The man thanked me and i went on my way. I decided to hang around the hospital for a little while, i didn't feel like going out just yet. I hoped that somehow i could find some coffee, i missed coffee so much, but it was hopeless and i found nothing. People came and went, talking about nearby zombies and the latest news from the outside.
It was midday when i decided to leave and i ventured out into Ray Alley, too the east of me i could see a zombie standing outside the Auto repair building. He hadn't noticed me so i decided to walk on and eventually into Richmond Hills and then into Havercroft. There was a lot of zombies in Havercroft so i decided it was best to get through there as quickly as possible without drawing attention. I quickly made it into Galbraith Hills, i was happy with my progress but unhappy about how many zombies i had seen. A lot more than in East Becktown. I decided to stop off for a rest at The Rhoden Museum but i couldn't find away in and there was several zombies in the area. I decided to get out of the area quick so i ran like hell, seeing a lot more zombies on my journey. I quickly made my way into Shackleville and entered a building for a rest but it had zombies in it so i quickly darted into the next building. 'Keep at VS+2! -MFD' was spray painted on the wall but there was no signs of life and the doors where barely secured. Any life that was here was long gone, leaving behind a ghostly aurora. I decided that with the amount of zombies in the area it was best i kept moving until my legs couldn't go on anymore. I make my way through Tollyton and into Wray Heights. I begin to get tired as i walk through Gulsonside so i decide to enter one of the pubs. One person sits in the corner, he looks up at me before turning his head and going back to his own thoughts, his eyes are distant. I find a nice place to sit and throw my backpack down, i open one of the pockets and pull out a map. I did well today, i am nearly in Milton. With a good rest i think i can make it there tomorrow, aslong as i don't run into any zombies. I tire and eventually fall asleep. Tomorrow, i go to Milton. After that, who knows...
