The tale of Nick Johnson is filled with tradgedy. He lost his family to the plauge; he witnessed them gunned down as zombies. He held his children's cold, dead hands, their faces devoid of emotion or thought.

He cried out for revenge.

He resigned his post, went rogue. But he held onto the uniform. His pride would not allow him to let it go.

And now he wonders the streets, mercilessly killing both zombies and those who offend him, seeking revenge for his loved one's death.
