John Lightning became a navy seal at the age of 19 and received multiple honors and awards for bravery in battle. They gave him the nickname "RivalLightning" because of his quick thinking in a fight. After getting out of the army he was lost. After being in the army so long he didn't know how to get work.
On October 8, 1997 he traveled to Malton for work. He got a job on the SWAT team in Dunningwood and quickly became the leader. When the outbreak came RivalLightning and his team were the only cops left in Skarin Row. They vowed to protect Dunningwood from the zombie threat. Today he is holed up next to Skarin Row in the Malton Arms and is the leader of Dunningwood SWAT.
