Lead My Squad is a set of lyrics composed by Specialist290 to the tune of Drive My Car, by the Beatles. The song derives no inspiration from any specific incident (that we're aware of) but, in the author's own words, "just kinda popped out of my head while I was listening to the tune."

In the song, a young and presumably rather attractive woman is trying to recruit for a group she has, by all appearances, just started herself. Upon being approached by the narrator of the story, she manages to entice him into the group with promises of a leadership position as well as somewhat suggestive hints of showing him "a better time" (which, we assume, she has no real intention of keeping). It isn't until after he has already been persuaded into joining that she reveals to him that there is no "squad" for the narrator to lead.

Lyrics

Lead My Squad
(To the tune of "Drive My Car," by the Beatles)

Asked a girl, "What you doin' 'round here?"
She said, "Baby, ain't it clear?
"I'm doing recruiting for a group I lead,
"And you look like just the guy I need--

"Baby, you can lead my squad;
"Give it everything you've got!
"Baby, you can lead my squad,
"And maybe I'll love you..."

I told that girl that my prospects were good,
And she said, "Baby, it's understood--
"Working with trenchies is all very fine,
"But I can show you a better time...

"Baby, you can lead my squad;
"Give it everything you've got!
"Baby, you can lead my squad,
"And maybe I'll love you..."
Bang-Bang-Click-Bang-Bang, yeah!

*guitar solo*

I told that girl I could start right away,
When she said, "Listen babe, I got something to say:
"Ain't got no strike team, now that is true--
"But I don't mind, 'cause now I've got you!

"Baby, you can lead my squad;
"Give it everything you've got!
"Baby, you can lead my squad,
"And maybe I'll love you..."
Bang-Bang-Click-Bang-Bang, yeah!
Bang-Bang-Click-Bang-Bang, yeah!
Bang-Bang-Click-Bang-Bang, yeah!...
