The Food Mechanic
- I'm interested in the food mechanic. In order to make it not overload AP drain, it seems like one or two AP should be able to feed you for at least a day (in my opinion). You also may have to expand the encumbrance limit or make each food item only take a small space (like 1-2 percent). What were your thoughts on it? Bob Moncrief EBD•W! 03:26, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- Eh, that's where it could get dicey. While a "Nom" and "Glug" button or a hybrid of the two to eat and drink would make things easier, it's kind of the same thing as using First-Aid Kits. You use a single kit to heal 5/10/15 HP, with additional heals requiring additional button-mashing so why should eating and drinking food/water/alcohol/wine/etc be a one-time button-mash? However, I do see where you're coming from. With having to keep your energy, HP, hunger, and thirst bars at an adequate state, it would drain AP faster than a vampire on a blood bank, in addition to all of the other AP-draining actions like searching for items, barricading buildings, rebuilding, etc. -- TheBardofOld 04:47, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- The idea of "energy, HP, hunger, and thirst bars" really reminds me of the old game Zoo Tycoon, where all the zoo visitors had bars for hunger, thirst, boredom, and need to use the bathroom. And it's very true that a higher proportion of AP could end up being used on "maintenance" rather than "activity" for a given character. Bob Moncrief EBD•W! 04:57, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- Heh, I was thinking more of the "hardcore" mode of Fallout: New Vegas, and yes, moar AP would help. The way I see it is that Urban Dead has been dying. It's been overlooked by others who aren't interested in the style of gameplay and visuals, however, by breathing new life into Urban Dead (forgive the pun), it could attract more players. -- TheBardofOld 14:54, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
