Jack lived in Old Arkham before the outbreak, working as a firefighter at the Newmarch Square Precinct. When evacuations began, he made sure to get his wife Mary and daughter Hope onto one of the first evac choppers, but when rioters began looting nearby Emma General Hospital for medical supplies, he opted to stay in Malton to try to quell the rising tide of chaos. By the time an unsteady peace was reached, the last of the evacuations had occurred, and those still within Malton were trapped.

Returning to Newmarch, Jack found the building completely inaccessible; it had been barricaded to the point that there was no way back in. Hefting his axe onto one shoulder, he crept down the deserted streets of the suburb, hoping against hope to avoid the unliving horrors that now plagued his home. When he reached the McKay Lane PD, he cautiously entered, hoping to find a gun and some ammo. After scrounging up a pisol and a few shotgun shells, he heard a cry for help over his radio. Emma General was under attack again! He rushed to the Hospital in time to chop down a hungry zombie bent on human flesh and save a young man named Sam Donovan from being torn limb from limb.

After treating a few of the worse scratches and cuts the boy had received with a first aid kit, they retreated within Emma General. A few of the staff, and some other survivors hoping to weather the storm in Malton in a safe haven abundant with emergency supplies were within as well. These folk agreed to watch out for one another and find a less conspicuous hiding place together after they had gathered the necessary supplies.

Thus, after some deliberation, the group decided to make for the Hardy Building in the south-west of Old Arkham.

During one of Jack's routine scouting mission, the deadheads attacked Old Arkham. He hurried back to the Hardy Building to find it under siege. After fighting his way past a group of zeds, he managed to climb through the wreckage of the building to quickly organize a regrouping effort, but to no avail. Jack's comrades were scattered to the four winds.

During the time of the horde's siege on Arkham, Jack wandered the streets, dimly aware of the danger, all the while blaming himself for his friends' deaths. After a time, he gathered his wits about him and began strategizing. He would arm himself and search Malton for his friends.

As luck would have it, a short while after, Jack encountered Doctor Thompson, who led him to Soleice and informed him that he had made contact with Asoka Wu, Sam Donovan, and Bacsin Alex. Unfortunately, Sam has been missing for quite a while now, and Dr. Wu did not arrived when he was expected. The others have not been located yet.

After trips to Tompson Mall and scouting the area for zeds, the small group awaited the arrival of their friends and gathered supplies in hopes of outlasting the next zed incursion.

Disaster struck when in between scouting and runs to Tompson Mall, Jack was attacked by a deranged man who called himself a "Son of Wendigo". The lunatic left Jack for dead in the streets, where he surely would have been devoured by roving feral zombies had he not gathered his wits and half crawled, half drug himself to Etherelda General Hospital, where he passed out from blood loss.

After regaining consciousness, he found himself lying in a bed in one of the less ruined wards of the hospital. Jack spent some time convalescing, and when he was well, made his was back to Old Arkham, only to find the suburb in ruins.

Presently, Jack finds himself struggling to keep the surrounding areas barricaded and in good repair, while keeping a watch for aggressive zeds and any survivors that may need his assistance. Jack is wandering the midsouthern region of Malton, no longer remaining solely in Arkham, but also not ranging too far from his previous home.
