This is an old copy of Whitehouse's policy. The current one can be found here.
The Recruitment page is the official wiki resource for groups to advertise themselves to anyone searching for a group to join. As the page has no current policy, and in recent times has been the site of much controversy, it is about time we made and voted on a policy to ensure that the page is run in an efficient and unbiased manner.
Format for posting an advertisement
How the advertisement must be posted
===[[Group Name]] : Type=== - Type is optional but will help readers. |
Advertisements, as demonstrated above, are to be a sub-page of a groups page encased in a table. This is to avoid large amounts of text on the Recruitment page, and to avoid formatting issues. On the Group Name/recruit page one will place the entire content of the advertisement (descriptive text, links and any images) as well as one of the two categories (place at bottom of Group Name/recruit) listed below (use the whole bolded text, inserting ones own group name if using #2):
- <noinclude>[[Category:Group Subpages]]</noinclude> if the group has no category.
- <noinclude>[[Category:"Insert Group Name Here"]]</noinclude> if the group already has its own category.
Eligibility
Most groups are eligible, below are the few rules regarding this.
- The group in question is active.
- The group in question has a wiki page.
- The group in question is not a subgroup, but is a separate entity, member groups of alliances are not considered sub-groups (can be proven by appearing on the stats page and having their own non-subpage wiki page).
Rules and restrictions
If a group has qualified to be on the Recruitment page, they must adhere to the rules and restrictions applied to all adverts placed on the page.
- All advertisements will be placed alphabetically on the page.
- All advertisements will have a timestamp placed on the page (not on the advertisements page) that is less than two weeks old, timestamps can be updated at all times.
- All advertisements will use maximum 200 words.
- All advertisements will use maximum 275 pixels square (76,000 pixels total) for their images.
- All advertisements will link to a group page and provide a means of contact for those who wish to join.
- All advertisements will not use any templates, the subst template modifier can be used to circumvent this.
- All advertisements will not set a fixed width or height at more than 600 pixels, percentages instead of pixels can be used to circumvent this.
- All advertisements will not use any headlines as this will mess with the table of content.
Maintenance
Any user may maintain the Recruitment page and enforce the above restrictions. Below are the rules for maintenance.
- Any Advertisements which are not qualified to be on the page, see the eligibility section, may be removed.
- Any advertisements which have exceeded the two weeks from the timestamp placed beneath the advertisement can be removed.
- Any advertisements lacking a timestamp, or have not placed it on the page itself, can be removed.
- Any advertisements which exceed the word limit, 200 words, can be removed.
- Any advertisements which exceed the image pixel limit, 76,000 pixels or 275 pixels square, can be removed.
- Any advertisements which break the page in any form (example: including other advertisements in its template, stretching the page, over sized images) can be removed.
- Any advertisements with a fixed width and height of over 600 pixels can be removed.
- Any advertisements that consist of text placed on the page, other than the template and timestamp explained in the format section, can be removed.
- Any advertisements which includes any level of headline can be removed.
- Any advertisements found in the incorrect alphabetical location should be moved to the correct alphabetical location.
- Any advertisements which have not closed their table but are not breaking the page in any form should have their table closed and a message left beneath the advertisement to inform the advertiser of their mistake.
- Any advertisements found in a section meant for another city should be moved to the correct section.
- Sections of the Recruitment page may be merged if there are fewer than two advertisements in them.
- Sections of the Recruitment page may be expanded if there are two or more advertisements that belong to them.
