Nithhogg in Norse mythology, Níðhöggr (Malice Striker, Striker in the Dark) is a dragon who eats the roots of the World Tree, Yggdrasill. He's the part of Umbrella Corporation B.O.W. program, known as project Ragnarök.

History

Project Ragnarök

In Norse mythology, Ragnarök (Old Norse [rɑɡnɑrøk]- "final destiny of the gods") is a series of major events, including a great battle foretold to ultimately result in the death of a number of major figures (including the gods Odin, Thor, Freyr, Heimdall, and the jötunn Loki), the occurrence of various natural disasters, and the subsequent submersion of the world in water.

Those name was chosen for project, connected with Advanced Technology and Future Warfrare Doctrine, which allows local nuclear stikes on places with mass gathering of enemy's combat units. In those hard conditions, that nuclear strike will leave after, only cybernetic forces, like Predator RQ-1 sometimes not enough - and not effective enough. So it was decicded to create such B.O.W., that, on one hand will have enourmous regeneration and resistance potential and on other hand will look human enough, to not scare regular troops.

That's how the first one's, Odin and Nithhogg were born.

Devil Skin

To solve main problems of project, Umbrella passed the ressearches to NecroTech branch, with their unique Revive Technology. So was created substance with reversible mutation effect - Devil Skin. It was synthesis of G-virus and Revive Technology, with upgraded NE-Alpha parasite. First experiments shown, that even stantard high requirements to genetic material is not enough, so special Find and Cover programm was started.

As for Nithhogg B.O.W., the main article was long and pure blood line, connected with physical trainings. So the victims was those, who's on Front Line of life, defenders and attackers.

In Nithhogg case, it was a family with old fireman's tradition, over a 200 years of firefight. Nobody can tell now - what was Nithhog's name in normal life. All information about him was vanished, according to Citizen Erased Memorandum. Bitter irony - mutant, assigned to be hunter and killer in the heart of nuclear flames - was assinged to rescue peoples from fire before.

Devil Skin was adopted to his body and after long series of training, Nithhogg was put in anabiosis, with wave of investigations and protests all over the world that was born from Raccoon City Outbreak.

So, he slept.

And with every day, he immersed deep and more deep in his hurted mind visions.

Götterdämmerung

When he was awake, the Final Destiny of the Gods had begun.

Nobody in the lab, where he was born - right before the Yggdrasil roots, which fed him for the long time.

Nobody in the street - only some pale survivors souls and rotten Nifelheim childs.

But one day, he heared the Call. That was The Wild Hunt. That was the begining of the game.

So he came, covered with darkness, to bring destiny to the little gods in white and red, Umbrella.

Endless Game, 'til the Night Falls, 'til the Fenrir eat the sun and even Valhala will be nothing more, than the dirty empty slaughterhouse.

But before then

he will show you Darkness, from which Flame was born.

First form

Usual Nithhogg form, that allows him to stalk silent among the livig. Firemans equipment allows to hide unhuman parts of his nowdays nature. In this form he prefers to use his special designed weaponory and his mind clear enough to effective communication. In this Nithhogg takes survivors, by the main part as troops, which he was assigned to cover, defend and support. But his language is broken, so he looks like one of those guys with fireman's madness.

Oh, yes.

He does.

Second form

This is second form of mutation, caused by Devil Skin unstable links with NE-Alpha parasite. That unigue mutation allows Nitthogg to burn anything, with creating fire right from his body mass. It is combat form, that injures mind of Nithhogg bad - primal and only primal instincts goes firts. In this form he can even bring some damage to simple survivors - because of bad aiming abilities.

Right after this Burn'Em All act, he will spend long time in some abandoned place to regenerate flesh.

Third form

This is the last a Nithhogg, this is what is he - Malice Striker, those, who sucks the corpses of the dead, those, who puts crowns from black flames on little gods heads, B.O.W., combat machine - gun in his han, fangs on his paw.
