Nifty
This looks really neat. Are these all going to be redirects? One thing you could do is to make three templates, one for Groups, one for images, and one for other things, which would use the time templates like you are doing now to call the image/page you want. You can then have another template that uses the Currenthour or Vapor's minute one to call either the Group, Image, or Other template depending on the current hour or minute. If you have an idea of which Groups / Images / etc you want to use, I can with some of the coding. -MHSstaff 17:31, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- You should reconsider if you really want to link to Extinction. These habitual alt-abusers have been banned from Barhah.com and many legitimate hordes for a reason. -- Spiderzed▋ 17:47, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- You also may find this useful:{{Purge}}. Vapor wrote it. It loads the most recent version of the link to help get around caching problems with the time magic words. -MHSstaff 19:11, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- It doesn't appear that {{Purge}} would work in this case. It would take you to the original page (i.e. User:TripleU/Random Propaganda) instead of the intended redirect. See here. ~ 20:02, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
Inclusion problems?
Trips, I'm not sure if you read my edit comments last night or if they made sense if they did (it was late). Something odd was happening last night but seems to be fixed now. But what I found is that redirects and inclusions weren't playing nice. So for example #Redirect[[Image:Rrfposter00.jpg]] was working but #Redirect[[:Image:Rrfposter00.jpg]] did not. Notice the colon in front of "Image". This seemed to have broken the redirect. I played around with it and the same thing happened when I placed a colon in front of a normal wiki page. It mysteriously reverted to whichever version of the page was previously saved. Whatever was happening, it seems to be alright now. I'm not seeing the same problem, but its not to say it won't happen again. ~ 20:02, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
Now
Why does it constantly insist that it's minute 01? --VVV RPMBG 05:14, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- I tried out if covering case 00 does the trick. Now the thingy insists that it's minute 00 all the time :/ -- Spiderzed▋ 13:14, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Have also tried lower-case switch and substituting Template:CURRENTMINUTE with Template:CURRENTMINUTE2 (as the latter calls on fewer templates and thus is less likely to break), but that has done the trick neither. Most bizarre thing is that in preview, it points at the right redirect, but once I visit the actual page, it always uses case 00 (or 01 before my try). -- Spiderzed▋ 13:22, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah see my comments above about redirects and inclusions. They seem to break the redirects and then page caching seems to also be a factor. I've removed the colons for now but didn't seem to have too much of an effect. The colons in front of the Image file name aren't necessary, BTW. The redirect will work (it will redirect to the image) without them. ~ 18:17, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- This is tricky one because it seems to "sorta" work in the preview. Not sure yet. -MHSstaff 22:25, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Maybe try copying code/blanking the page/saving/editing/pasting code back in? Like I said before caching seems to be groken. ~ 05:41, 9 March 2011
- Alright, so it's not page caching. It has to be the code, then. I think that the redirect is picking up only the first link it finds and is ignoring the switch altogether. I think you might have to place your switch on a different page and link use an inclusion to get it to work. I honestly don't know if that will work but I'm going to test it out. ~ 18:22, 9 March 2011
