Galaxina has a normal name but she won't tell it to you. Originally she just set off to survive, and then she had a plan
to tag every corner of the thrice-cursed Wall, but over time her skin got peppered with rev-needled marks and her spraycans

Out of respect for her former self, she rests some places, but generally keeps the tradition of hoofing it around town.
Malton, it seems to her, is a big city. There's a fair bit to see. Besides, it passes the time.

"A clear, cool night. I have been reading, but the thoughts of man do not solace me.

I raised the curtain and looked at the moon, clear and silvery; and I brushed some of the unrest out of my mind.
I know all the theories of the moon.
There have been times when the symbols of science have robbed me of some of its mystery and charm.
But no one can explain the moon any more than a grasshopper can explain me.
In youth, the moon promised too much.
But now I understand better; that was not the moon's fault.
Also the moon and I have this in common:
We both are wanderers across the night."

Galaxina has a normal name but she won't tell it to you. Compartmentalizing: it makes things easier.
She doesn't quite remember what she did before the apocalypse. School, and half-hearted rebellion, and cereal in the mornings. There must have been other people--her family, or at least someone to buy the cereal for her--but they're a blank spot in her head. Maybe she killed them. She doesn't know. Situation like this, a girl can never really be sure.
Whatever happened, it's kind of nice to not have to buy things anymore, even though the rations the helicopters drop aren't as good as Happy Bear Honey Oat O's. She can take out as many books from the library as she wants, too. The zombies aren't so bad when you're too far off the ground to hear them. And people come back, which is the most important thing. You can always bring people back.

She hates the sight of blood but is used to the smell and feel of it now. When she sees it pouring out of living people she tries to help them as best she can. She's gotten a lot better at it. Originally she just set off to survive, and then she had a plan to tag every corner of the goddamned quarantine Wall, but over time her skin got peppered with rev-syringe marks and her spraycans ran out. She got tired.
Now she rests places, sometimes, but generally keeps the tradition of hoofing it around town out of respect for her former self. Malton's a decent-sized city. There's stuff to see. Besides, it passes the time.
