This once popular club was one of Malton's premier hot spots in the 1980s. The excellent location, with two pubs and a hotel right next door, combined with the unique atmosphere of this club made it an almost decade-long fad.  Unfortunately for the owners, the early 90s crowd simply didn't care about their club, and the building was turned into a pet shop specializing in rats. Yes, rats.

Basic Info:

  • Clubs are Dark buildings.
  • The usual internal description of a Club reads as follows:
"…in the near-darkness of the main dancefloor."
  • When powered by a portable generator, the internal description changes to the following:
"Coloured spotlights highlight an empty stage, and distorted music echoes over the speakers."
  • Clubs can be barricaded normally.

Description

Club Chalderwood, a tall yellow-stone building with stern gargoyles along its guttering; an old aristocrat’s house. Internally it is an 80s style gaudy neon and chrome joint that has seen better days... The dance-floor was looking pretty good. Pretty damn funky in-fact, with a large mirror ball placed on a table. The DJ booth was on the raised up stage. It was in a good location, raised high enough above the booth so the DJ could see the crowd dancing, but not so high that he was removed from them. Upstairs, the stairs are narrow, good for defending, and lead to a couple of ugly café-sized rooms and a kind of office.

History

This once popular club was one of Malton's premier hot spots in the 1980s. The excellent location, with two pubs and a hotel right next door, combined with the unique atmosphere of this club made it an almost decade-long fad. Unfortunately for the owners, the early 90s crowd simply didn't care about their club, and the building was turned into a pet shop specializing in rats. Yes, rats.

Luckily for for Malton's nightlife, this club was reopened in the summer of 2005, just in time for a zombie apocalypse...

Club Chalderwood was abandoned in the early days of Malton's quarantine, as most survivors fled to buildings with supplies or places more easily defended.

Recent Events

  • April 5, 2007 - The Drama Club staged a performance of "Apocalypse Now" in Club Chalderwood as part of their Outward Spiral Tour of Malton. The group plans to travel in a counter-clockwise outward spiral from the center of the town to the outer edges with one show in each suburb. Today they performed for the lone zombie there as part of this tour. See their group page for performing groups and schedules.

Barricade Plan

Keep it extremely heavily barricaded with disco lights and guitars, and maybe you'll be safe.
