Description
Shuffery Cinema is a large grey-stone building, built in Streamline Moderne style in 1957, but the exterior was renewed in 1983. Some old windows are bricked up as well as the hallway skylight. The main entrances turquoise boarding is fairly well-preserved.
The theater has two equally sized auditoriums with worn-out purple velvet seating, 7 rows of 20 seats. As a feature, the auditorium staircases are lined with glass tiles with built in lighting. The lobby has black and white floor tiles and dusty violet walls, lined with framed posters of the movies recently shown. There's a long narrow metal topped counter parallel to the curved wall. Behind it is a large, aquarium like popcorn machine. Above it there's a flickering neon-light picture of a cotton candy stick. A couple of dusty cola bottles are still left in the fridge under the counter. The floor is covered with used movie tickets and dust, but the auditorium II seems fairly clean.
Movie currently showing is Supernova (2000).
History
The Shuffery cinema was built in 1957 by Frank Shuffery. Even though Frank Shuffery died from lung cancer in 1970, his cinema was kept running till 1975 by his wife Susan. After that year it closed and didn't re-open before 1983 under a new owner. On the southern corner of Malton, in Miltown, there is also a Shuffery Bank. The owners are not related.
After the outbreak the cinema has had a tumultuous history, but has recently been restored to its former condition.
Barricade Policy
The Shuffery Cinema is kept at EHB following the Earletown Barricade Plan. The surrounding area unfortunately is usually overcaded, nearest (fairly) reliable entry point is St Telesphorus's Church.
Code of Conduct
Code of Conduct for cinema visitors:
1) No verbal or physical violence inside the cinema. Let's save it for the streets.
2) Keep at EHB++ whenever possible.
3) For hygiene reasons, zombies aren't allowed near the popcorn stall.
4) We recommend In Character dialogue. All civilized conversation is encouraged.
5) No tagging the walls please.
Current Status
See danger report above. Welcoming survivors - just remember to keep the walls clear of graffiti, please (It does not grant XP in this building).
