In Demonology, Leviathan is one of the seven princes of Hell and its gatekeeper. The word leviathan has become synonymous with any large sea monster or creature.

All was going well...and then the Knights Templar, a group of motleys with no honor whatsoever went against the will of the sea...and hence:

CRUSADE AGAINST THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR - The Templars, in their ignorance murdered the Priests and Missionaries of MITS and defiled the Leviathan's Temple. The Beast, enraged by this blaspheme demanded all further offerings to him consist of Knight Templar Blood. He demanded 50 sacrifices to appease his wrath and we at MITS were forced to oblige....
