| == Malton Quarantine ==
| |
|
| |
| Hey again. I just have several questions regarding the Malton quarantine wall and the area nearby.
| |
|
| |
| 1. With the river Kevan on Malton's northern border, the quarantine wall encapsulates Malton on all four sides, right?
| |
|
| |
| 2. Is the quarantine wall immediately next to the outlying buildings, or is there open ground filled with defenses between them?
| |
|
| |
| 3. Much like last year's Escape template exemplified, is the ground underneath the quarantine wall dirt/rocks or does the wall extend into the ground for some length?
| |
|
| |
| 4. With the exception of Borehamwood and Monroeville, the outside world is normal (zombie-free) right?
| |
|
| |
| 5. What is the physical composition of the quarantine walls? Are there gun turrets every few feet, guards patrolling on top, lava pits with sharks, etc?
| |
|
| |
| Also, I apologize in advance if my actions of archiving all of the other discussions on the General Discussion, Wiki Questions, and Technical Help pages were unauthorized moves. Thanks. --TheBardofAwesome 21:08, 9 August 2011 (BST)

| Hell, are these questions even answerable? --TheBardofAwesome 18:30, 10 August 2011 (BST)
| |
| :When I ask myself any question about the quarantine border, I plainly think of the Berlin Wall. It was likewise created on short notice to contain an urban area, so logically a lot of the solutions and conclusions will be very similar. I especially imagine that the Malton Wall evolved equally from improvised roadblocks to wire fences to concrete walls, just much faster. --<span style="font-family:monospace; background-color:#222222"><span style="color:Lime"> Spiderzed</span><span style="color:Lime">█ </span></span> 18:46, 10 August 2011 (BST)

| :Only if you're unimaginative. These questions, like many others, are purposely left unanswered by the game creator, Kevan. The answers are limited only by your own imagination or those of the community. There have been a few attempts to create a backstory to Malton by the game community. See UDWiki:Lexicon. There are also many journals in which players have made their own backstory through Roleplaying.
| |
|
| |
| :There is some "specific" information on the Border page. In Monroeville, a city similar to Malton, the border walls are described in-game as such:
| |
|
| |
| <blockquote></blockquote>
| |
|
| |
| :Again, whether you believe the walls of Malton are full of razor-wire and concrete-slab walls is completely up to your imagination. Personally I believe machine gun turrets is a bit of a stretch, but that's just me. ~ 18:57, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
| |
| ::I kind of figured that these questions were left unanswered...I just wanted to see if there was any concrete facts about it so that my roleplaying/imagination didn't over-stretch the truth to something unrealistic. Thanks anyway. --TheBardofAwesome 19:39, 10 August 2011 (BST)

| == Kevan and questions. ==
| |
|
| |
| Do we know if Kevan is still interested in Urban Dead? Halfway through October and no pumpkins yet, although, we didn't get pumpkins, candy, and masks until late October. We didn't get snow until like last December. The only new changes to the game were the implementation of a designated safehouse of your choosing (silly imo) for survivors and a new skill for zombies.

| It's been five years since the initial chaos of the outbreak and most buildings are in the same state as they were. I'd think that if our human survivors could rebuild buildings besieged by weeds, rot, and decay, that they'd be able to refurbish buildings damaged by fire, bullet sprays, finish jobs and remove scaffolding, rebuild collapses floors and roofs, etc. Hell, I'm majoring in a branch of engineering and having had some experience with my father on construction jobs and even still, I think that this Malton Home Improvement project could be accomplished through a combined effort of others. Because after all, if a building is ruined and you rebuild it, wouldn't you logically rebuild it so it's not in the same condition as it was before, moreso with fire damage or other structural damage? I do understand that this would hurt the roleplaying aspect of the game, but if we're in Malton until the end of time, it would introduce new beginnings. --TheBardofAwesome 16:15, 15 October 2011 (BST)

| :i haven't played long enough to enjoy holiday/seasonal events. do you think if new players make donations for (each of) their characters, Kevan would implement events this year? i used to play Mafia Wars on Facebook & spent quite a bit of money because Zynga implemented new events/cities/other stuff every month. but i won't donate money for a higher IP limit. and i agree w/ you about the construction repairs/rebuilding...i've played The Sims series games for years, and i enjoy building homes/tinkering. it'd be nice to do more than decorate Malton...Malton needs improvements. 22:44, 15 October 2011 (BST)

| ::It's not so much donations, but rather a case of if he is still interested in the game. In some cases, after a number of years of the game running, the developer's excitement for a game tends to fade and I worry that Kevan is merely chugging the game along to please community. Also, in regards to building/tinkering, I just thought that it'd attract a wider audience as we all know that the game has lost a drastic amount of players over the years. Then again, it could just be the rundown, gloomy atmosphere that sets this game apart from the others of its kind. --TheBardofAwesome 22:52, 15 October 2011 (BST)
| |
| :::if donations start coming (back) in for this game, maybe he'll give us something new.the active players (6964 in last day) are probably players with 2 or more active characters (13908).
| |
| (random comment) i saw a review of this game here:Cracked.com...and decided to play. it was a bad review but free publicity. maybe we can all promote this game to attract new players. whether a game is old or new...# of players (+ money) grab developers' attention.
