Hey LCpl, your signature currently stretches the lines of text that it is on up/down. I believe it's because of the use of File:Flame.gif, which hasn't been reduced in size enough to make it under 14px high as per the signature policy. So we goons are well aware how fucking picky and retarded the WIKIZENS of this place can be. This sig is old, about 7 years at this point but I've no doubt it is within standards, because undoubtedly me, Katthew, and Sykic had a long chat when crafting the signature. There was plenty of time in 2011 for people to have this sig corrected back then, when people still actually played this game . Coupling this knowledge (verified below apparently, thanks Dragonshardz) with the timing of this request and I'm gonna assume that you just wanted to start some shit. Couple THAT with WIKI LAW OPERATIVE Aichon casually mentioning that WIKI LAW could permaban me over sig pixels and I'm inclined to not do a fucking thing for you, good faith or otherwise. I consider myself a reasonable person though so how about this: you cared enough to notice, you can go fix it. Go fix my long ass sig if it bothers you that much. Otherwise I'm just gonna assume this is you checking off the box to try to make something of LITERALLY NOTHING. Yeah...you’re nowhere even in the ballpark of getting banned over six pixels, nor did I suggest that you were. As for your sig being around since 2011, it’s from April 2011, the month before the fixes were made to the Goonsig to abide by the rules. While I was at it, I went ahead and fixed the existing uses of your sig for all of your 2018 edits, since it was fairly trivial to just replace them all. As an aside, I get the impression that you're not particularly comfortable with wikicode, so if you have any ideas for changes or improvements to your signature that you'd like to make but haven't been able to do, let me know. I'm a wiki janitor. Nothing more, nothing less. Cleaning up the messes other people make is what I do around here. You said we were welcome to fix your sig, so I did.

Honestly, I have no bone to pick with you. Quite the contrary, it's nice to have some activity around the wiki, even if it's just more of the same sort of stuff I'm already used to dealing with. And if you got some amusement from my simple-minded pursuit of keeping the wiki operating smoothly, great. Have fun. Ok I've read all this and I'm going to give you an decent reply. I'm gonna outline for you how I processed all this.

1. I check my talk page. I see some nerd talking about signature requirements. I don't think too much of it and begin filing it away as the usual oldschool WIKI LAW bullshit.
2. I read your comment and am immediately put on guard by your nonchalant "discovery" of policy and mention permabanning. Yeah maybe your memory got refreshed doublechecking stuff but why mention it on my page, where you know I am going to read it. I take it as meant for me as a subtle warning.
3. I read dragonshardz's stuff and come to the conclusion that WIKI LAW's representatives are on some bullshit and write up a brief response.
4. I also want to reiterate: yes I gave you permission to edit the sig but I also told you to go fuck yourselves in the same breath.

I'm pleasantly surprised that you did the wiki janitor thing and just fixed it. I'd normally be appreciative here but I'm quite confused by the recent interactions on my talk page. I view it as some weird wikinerd posturing through and through. You never threatened a permaban directly but as far as I'm concerned, your mere mention of the policy is a not so subtle reminder that you have power over me in this little corner of the internet. Why would anyone mention this unless it was to make a point? You say you have no beef with me personally but I'm not so sure. Either you misspoke in a big way or you were trying to swing that big ole WIKI LAW dick on my talkpage over signature pixels. Personally, I'm going to view that quote as an attempt to put me in my place. Fortunately I'm not that attached to being on this wiki. For one my name on here SUCKS. And it really, really is a boring place. People shitting up the place is probably the only activity this place has really gotten in however long, whatever, you can probably fill in that blank. The question though is it right? I'm not going to pretend to be an angel here, that's not the role I've chosen to play on this part of the internet. What concerns me is I was summoned to play a really old browser game by old friends. I've grown over the past 7 years, enough to be fucking horrified at some of the content I've left behind on this wiki in the name of humor. What hasn't changed is, what I consider to be, an obstinately literal interpretation of this wiki's rules and procedures. Application of the letter of WIKI LAW is no fucking problem, hence why we've been arguing over six fucking pixels in height. You guys are great at operating within that ruleset. You guys are apparently bad at stepping outside that ruleset and exercising snap judgement. I've been out of the game for quite a while but as far as THE SPIRIT of the UD Wiki is concerned, we generally let alot of shit slide and repeat bullshit goes through the WIKI LAW hoops till it sees itself out. Some shit should be obvious enough to be handled immediately or as quickly as the facts can be ascertained. From what I hear, you guys failed to do this quite spectacularly. How the fuck you let SA forum goons have the moral highground on you guys in TYOOL 2018 is beyond me. But its fucking hilarious and is the reason I will have nothing but utter contempt for all of you.

I really was just genuinely surprised to see that the sig policy allows for an insta-permaban, since I thought I'd have remembered something like that. Given that the policy is available for everyone to view; that the permaban conditions in no way resemble the current situation (permabans only apply to wiki-breaking sigs); and that you aren't even a first-time sig offender, let alone a repeat offender, it didn't even cross my sleep-deprived brain at that hour that my comment could be taken as anything other than the simple statement that it was. In retrospect, I can see how it's possible for it to be taken that way, particularly by someone in your position in that situation.

Though nothing was intended, I nevertheless want to apologize. I should have been more careful about broaching topics like those in a conversation like this, and I apologize for contributing to the situation as I did. This has got to be the pickiest thing I've ever seen a sysop on a wiki nag somebody about. E: You're wrong, all images in his signature are under 14px high. The signature policy says nothing about using superscript/subscript in signatures. You can literally see how high each image is scaled to by editing this page and scrolling up. That code in his signature (9px) is not the height he's specified for the image. It's the width. Which means he's reduced the image dimensions of "29 × 67" by ~30% which means the functional height (even before the superscript/subscript stuff) is over 20px tall. Again, please confirm for me if this is wrong because I don't tend to get these things right first go.

As for petty, it's cute you think this is the pickiest thing a sysop has done (I wouldn't even consider this close to holding that trophy), and to think that being a sysop is somehow relevant here. I'm doing this as a user who finds the page breaking features of this signature annoying. Anyone can do it, especially if backed up by the policy specifically designed to stop signatures warping pages by virtue of being shittily coded.

And there's also some precedent that sysops can overrule signatures that functionally break the signature policy through loopholes (rather than literally break it). But, despite you bringing up the hitherto unmentioned subscript/superscript code, this just isn't one of those cases yet and I have no reason to think why Mendoza should consider the request to make the images smaller unreasonable in any way. Prior to the height fix, I only saw the outlines for the images, which I pegged as the wiki was (yet again) having problems rendering and caching images of reduced size. Since making the fix, the images have appeared fine for me on multiple devices. —Aichon— 14:55, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
