The ancient society of the Ko'Oul has existed... for how long, nobody may truly know. When four strangers met in the ruins of Malton, they came to learn of the Ko'Oul, and chose to give it new life; in the city of the dead.
The contemporary Society of the Ko-Oul (or Cool Patrol as they are publicly known) wanders the streets of Malton, attempting to uphold a loose code of ethics for survivors. While they also try their best to purge the zombie threat they leave such lofty goals to other, more prepared groups.
Before Caunt
For the most part no history of the Ko-Oul exists before the fall of Malton, and what little that is known cannot be verified. The modern Cool Patrol has operated within Malton for over 6 months, mostly unknown to their fellow survivors.
Due to the misunderstood nature of their goals, members of the Ko-Oul will never make their true name known; The four original members of the Cool Patrol took the name of 4 Elder members of the ancient society.
Before the zombie outbreak, Timothy Wells was a workaholic and recent transfer into one of the city's newly built NecroTech offices. Although he was lucky enough to be in one of
the few offices that survived intact, he soon ventured outside to collect more data for his employers and his own personal experiments. Unfortunately, he had forgotten his keycard and has never since set foot into his office. He soon found himself among the many other scientists and doctors that had survived, and tried his best to keep survivors in good health. After several close encounters with zombie attacks, he moved east looking for more organized resistance...
Rouwth, in his former life, was a firefighter for the Langsford Drive Firehouse, and chose to stay behind and assist in the evacuation of the the general populace. After a disagreement with his fire chief he departed from the safety of the station to try to better help the people of Malton, with little regard for his own life. At that point he disappeared into the masses along with the hundreds of other survivors who tried to make Malton a safer place to live. There are few records of his deeds until Caunt, although the ones that do exist claim him to have slowly degraded into a psychopath. At some point he found himself in the Caunt Street Police Station.
Dildo Faggins has no past, even compared to his Ko'Oul brothers. He seemed to have suddenly appeared shortly after the outbreak, wearing a several strange rings. After a number of deeds he alone was witness too, he lost his rings and began to search for them in earnest. While he was never able to find all the rings, he was however able to find the one ring. Soon thereafter he arrived at Caunt Steet and took shelter within the Police Station.
The last of the founding fathers of the Cool Patrol, Roggie Bear best knows the lay of the land. Before he was reborn he served as a scout in the military but was discharged for psychological instability, mainly for assaulting his commanding officer when he thought he was trying to eat his soul with a camera. After his discharge he was employed as a mascot at the City Zoo where he at some point decided he could not leave his bear suit until he captures a soul to replace his own. After several failed attempts to capture zombie souls he grew tired of the undead presence and gravitated to the human bastions in the southeast corner of the city.
When these 4 strangers met inside the Caunt Street Police Station, their lives would be forever changed. After several zombie assaults they individually started to approach the other survivors within the station, to better their chances of survival. Soon the 4 began working together and when rebuilding the barricades they stumbled upon an old photograph.
Ko'Oul Reborn
Two words were written on the back of the old photograph, Consisto Frigus. When the 4 men spoke these words, the Society of the Ko'Oul became known to them; an ancient Society that upheld a code of ethics through whatever means necessary to make the world a better place. While they maintained some control over themselves, for the most part they became possessed by the 4 people in the photograph: Rouwth, Dildo Faggins,Timothy Wells and Roggie Bear.
Unfamiliar with their new surroundings they set out to prepare themselves, and the city, to become that which is Ko'Oul. Rouwth did not share his host's love for axes and quickly armed himself with shotgun and pistol. Dildo Faggins, who seems the most in control of himself, appointed himself leader of the group. Timothy Wells took advantage of his host's medical expertise and appointed himself the group's medic and logistics officer and finally Roggie Bear was plagued by the instability of his host and accepted his role as a grunt.
Headquarters
The essence of Ko'Oul is forever in motion, and so too are the members of the Cool Patrol. Always moving, always purging that which is not cool, the Patrol has no single base of operations. However, the Holy Caunt gave birth to the modern Cool Patrol, and members have been known to make pilgrimages there.
Membership
While the idea of permanent membership is not cool, several survivors have embraced the Ko'Oul and devoted their life to it, of their own free will. Even those without life have been reported to uphold the ideals of the Ko'Oul; it would seem its power can reach even beyond the grave.
