The Fall of Meatshield

Background

Over the course of 2017-20, the zerger not yet called Meatshield created 45 new zergs to fight the Gulsonside-based zombie zergs Clubbed to Death, naming most of his new army after CtD accounts. Zergs created included ClubbedtoDeathSucks, cytisinezerg and matchingzerger. Clubbed to Death lost the zerg battle and disappeared in August 2020.

What would the victorious zerger do next? Ironically, he has a passionate hatred of zergers, so he went looking for more zergers to fight. In late 2021, the original 20 Meatshield zergs were created by a different zerger. As soon as the zerger not yet called Meatshield noticed them, he created 7 of his own Meatshield zergs, causing the two Meatshield zergers to be confused by many in the UD community. The original Meatshield didn't use the original Meatshield accounts for long, whereas the 7 imposter Meatshield zergs were used extensively and gained thousands of XP. Control of Fort Perryn

In early 2022, the new Meatshield's zerg army took over Fort Perryn. The zergs were mostly run as survivors and dedicated to keeping Fort Perryn in survivor hands. Despite the use of zerging, the fort changed hands frequently. Meatshield was not happy about this and hostile graffiti accusing opponents of zerging became a permanent fixture, especially in the fort but often slapped all over Whittenside. He made more new zergs: 9 in 2022, 9 in 2023 and 8 in 2024. A belief that one high XP zombie called The Tomb ran most zombies as his zergs became a key aspect of Meatshield’s graffiti to the point of obsession. Fort Perryn Defense Force was also a graffiti target for not helping Meatshield and for PKing his zergs.

By 2023, Meatshield was naming new zerg accounts after Whittenside-based zombie players who opposed him. Here's a few examples:

• Liche has Herpes is a tribute to Liche
• Rotting Zerg McNally is a tribute to Rotting Ted McNally
• The Tombs other zerg is a tribute to The Tomb
• Zaron the Zerging is a tribute to Zaron the Everliving.

In September 2023 the two Fort Perryn player groups, the Fort Perryn Defense Force and the Fort Feral Zombies, set up a zerg hunting alliance to share zerg lists and oust Meatshield from Whittenside. This forced Meatshield to keep his accounts in dark buildings and reduced his control of the fort for a few months but ultimately could not deter Meatshield’s zerging or toxic behaviour. Into 2024, both FFZ and FPDF began to stagnate as members struggled to play around the zerg army.

The Halloween Hack

On around 28th October 2024, an enemy of Meatshield exposed Meatshield’s zerg password, used for the majority of his zerg army. Meatshield does not tend to use his zergs disposably, many of them have thousands of XP from daily use, so this was a huge blow for the zerger. On Halloween 2024 the zergs were moved to the northwest corner of Malton for a Halloween party and a speech given, summarised here: "We are all gathered here to finally admid that Clubbed 2 Death was always better than us! We were just copycat wannabes, but with sad little micro wangs. Stay here forever in this small wang lovers corner. WE LOVE SMALL WANGS! WE LOVE CLUBBED 2 DEATH! Happy Halloween all!!!"

Somebody then relentlessly kept Meatshield’s army in that corner and spent the following months logging into them all to ensure they stayed there, attacked each other and wore slur groups until they got banned.

Other zergers such as Alwayz, Cats and Rigger also fell victim to password hacks around this time, but these hacks are thought to be the work of AlphaDog. When AlphaDog hacks you, he doesn't tell anyone, he just uses your account. When Clubbed hacks you, he broadcasts the password via in-game radio and has a big party.

RIP Banned Meatshield Zergs

Meatshield's 5 oldest known zergs date to 2017. Their bio of "Magical Fairy Princess" and the slur group tags were added by whoever got them banned in 2024.

What now for Meatshield?

To continue zerging, Meatshield will need to start new accounts from scratch. He broadcast on radio 28.01 that he was quitting the game, but then remained active for more whining on 28.01. By December, his trademark salty graffiti began to reappear around Whittenside and suspicious new accounts emerged. Watch this space!
