Abbreviation: SoC
Group Numbers: 54 and rising.
Leadership: Cortonna
Goals: Protection of Darvall Heights and North West.
Recruitment Policy: Speak to any member.
Contact: http://crossman.s2.bizhat.com/
Active Structure
LEADERSHIP: Dictatorial Democratics:
  • Single operative has command of the SoC.
  • Tactical command is delegated to next in hierarchy ladder during extended missions.
  • Every member has right of voice when discussing plan.

Platoon Leader - Cortonna
  • Commands SoC, sees the bigger picture, oversees plans, operations and diplomacy.

Lieutenants - Zod Rhombus, Bromhead and Johnnie Rico
  • Joint 2nd in command of the group, tactical advisors, plan operations. If the Platoon Leader is down or unable to do his/her duty for some reason, they act as tribunal and take decisions for group.

The Triumvirate - John Spiro, Frank Burn, Merrin P and Aichon
  • Comprised of our most active Sergeants, The Triumvirate does most of the work on the field. Each member has various duties within the SoC but what unites them is their dedication. They support the Platoon Leader with the organization of most of the events, they also perform duties, which may have been overlooked by the Lieutenants and the Platoon Leader and act as the eyes on the field. The Triumvirate is the spine of SoC.

Theta Squad - Merrin P
  • When the general SoC Platoon, doesn't punch enough holes in the enemy defenses or there's a breach that needs to be taken care of fast, Theta comes in. This is a support/fast-responce/hit-hard squad dedicated to making the enemy's day a living (or unliving) hell. Comprised by the most active soldiers of the SoC, Theta takes only the best and the most hardened survivors within it's ranks. It's objectives vary from assaults into enemy territories, defense of key positions within Darvall Heights, search and rescue to supporting the general SoC Platoon. Known as the cold steel of North-West.

Talon Squad - C_Shaw93, Hawx (retired)
  • While Theta squad is mostly combat or assist-oriented, Talon is designed to be specifically a scout and reconnaissance squad providing the information (such as buildings's current state, enemy numbers and positions, etc.) needed before an effective plan is created. Led by C_Shaw93, replacing currently retired Hawx, SoC's Recon specialist, and comprised by a small number of people, it's fast, quiet and stealthy. Due to it's nature, members withing the squad rarely meet one another or stay within the bigger formation rendering it the best place for lone wolfs and drifters. Provides a 24/7 picture on the situation in Darvall Heights. Talon may be called upon to assemble and support the other sub-groups within SoC should situation requires it.

SoC Vanguard - Johnnie Rico
  • The SoC Vanguard or the general platoon comprises the bulk of the SoC forces. It's men and women are the spine of every defense or attack. Most of the time their main priority is to keep everything within the borders of Darvall Heights safe, the buildings according to the designated barricade plan, the NT's up and running and the revive points maintained. In specific times however they make up 65% of the attacking forces, when assaulting enemy territories. However the Vanguard relies mostly on numbers as it's strength and not on superior tactics and coordinated attacks as Talon and Theta. That's why the Vanguard is suited perfectly for the more casual and laid-back soldiers.

Boot Camp - John Spiro
  • Every good army has a boot camp, where the inexperienced soldiers learn the basics of survival, and so does the SoC. This is the perfect place for newcomers to Malton, unfamiliar with the harsh realities of life here. Veterans, who've lived in Malton for years and have seen the highs and lows will teach new recruits the ropes, advanced strategies and offer training that will make a soldier prepared for any situation in this forsaken wasteland of a city. The young and green recruit of today is the experienced zombie hunter of tomorrow.

Commissars - BloodRavenD and Flintt
  • Out of the main hierarchy, oversees propaganda around the suburb, may be acting regardless of other orders issued to the group in an effort to spread the word and keep the radio waves alive with the sound of OUR music, recruits, sprays the good word and does whatever it takes to get some more people with the SoC.

Legate - Frank Burn
  • Out of the main hierarchy, oversees the relationship and the connection between SoC and it's allies.

Visionaries - Aichon, Merrin P and Daemon93
  • Out of the main hierarchy. Those talented individuals are the "artists" of the SoC, making sure our style, wiki page and overall visual perception is in its best.

As our numbers raise newer positions will be included to better our order and structure.

Recruitment

Back in the old days it was pride to be an LCD or CDF, and now we are proud to be the Soldiers of Crossman. Moreover it wasn't just the pride, but it was the friendship and brotherhood that we developed with each other. The knowledge that you always have someone to watch your back, that no matter what the odds, we all stand together win or lose. As such we mainly don't look for the level or experience but for:

  • Dedication.
  • Loyalty.
  • Brotherhood or standing together no matter what the odds.

If you feel you possess those qualities, then you are more then welcomed to join us. Prospective members - please contact us on our forum or one of us in game, sign your name and profile like everyone else on the end of the Members section of this page and register to our forum (if you haven't already done so in the process of contacting us). Thank you.

Mottoes
  • SoC - a bond that will transcend time and moreover life and death.
  • SoC - Today, Tomorrow, Forever.
  • SoC - Honour and Duty.
  • SoC - Dedication and Tenacity.
Current Goals
  • Establish strong presence in Darvall Heights.
  • Get the neighborhood running again and buildings back to the designated barricade plan found in Darvall Heights.
  • Spread our word around the neighborhood and gain new soldiers to fight the good fight.
  • Once those are met, we will move on to assist North-West as a whole and other places/or survivors in need.
Vision

What do SoC represents one might ask? The way I see it, the vision I had in mind, when making this group could be described with one word - brotherhood. Too often we find ourselves alone, scattered, disillusioned and last but not least surrounded by danger. Often as not you can't even trust survivors like you and I. What I envisioned was a bond - friendship and trust, trust that you will never find yourself left behind or alone when in need. To know that no matter how fierce the enemy is, you fight together with your brothers and sisters until the end, victory or not. No matter what the odds, no matter what it costs. With respect towards the enemy, honour and duty. All of us lost people, who we cared for and SoC represents family, our bond being our testament. I wish for myself and for everyone else to fight with cold determination and sheer tenacity. Having that I believe, will allow us to restore Darvall Heights and North-West back to the survivor haven it used to be and later to assist everyone else in Malton.

North-West Plan

The long-term goal of the Soldiers of Crossman is to reunite the Northwest of Malton under one banner. The desire shared by SoC members is that each suburb will be self-sufficient, possessing their own chain of command and leadership structure, but answering to a central SoC authority. The suburbs under Crossman leadership will manage their own home defense troops, as well as special purpose teams that can be used to assist other suburbs or engage in missions outside of the Northwest.

A general platoon, filled with ranks of soldiers from across the entire Northwest, will exist outside of the suburbs' leadership, under direct orders from the SoC central command. This unit will be responsible for moving throughout the entire Northwest and handling tasks that the leadership considers in need of attention.

However everyone, both the suburbs and the general platoon, will be under one banner – Soldiers of Crossman – and under central leadership.

- FAQ -
  • Question: Wouldn't it be easier to simply create alliances with all of the different groups in the Northwest?
  • Answer: It certainly would be easier, but the easiest way is rarely the best. Different groups have different goals and different policies. These minor differences in policy can become sources for significant amounts of tension between survivor groups. To make matters worse, survivor groups recruit from the same pool of players. If alliances were forged that covered the entire Northwest, the groups would be forced to directly compete with each other for members, creating additional opportunities for tension to arise. The end result in alliances such as these is a lack of equality, since the larger groups are able to ensure that policy decisions end up being more favorable for themselves. Smaller groups are forced to assimilate into larger groups if they want to have any chance of being considered equal.

By uniting under one banner, we have the same policies, the same members, the same leadership, and the same goals. Central leadership also has the benefit of ensuring a better allocation of resources, since there is no need to share information or forces with a different group.

We will still forge alliance, but the hope is that our allies will one day join us by uniting under a common banner.

  • Question: If being assimilated by a large group is a bad thing, why should my group join Soldiers of Crossman?
  • Answer: In the case of multiple groups forging an alliance, policy decisions that affect the alliance can create situations where "it's us vs. them," oftentimes to the detriment of the smaller, underdog groups. Since the best way to effect change is from the inside, a better approach is to ensure that every individual has their own voice in the decision-making process and provide them all with the opportunity to weigh in on the decision. By merging with the Soldiers of Crossman, you and the members of your group can join the existing SoC members as equal and diverse individuals, ensuring that there is no "us vs. them" or group politics involved.
