Killing low-levels

No matter what excuse you use to justify it. It's bad for the game period.

I'm sorry, but I must respectfully disagree, and consider that argument to be both fallacious in the extreme, as well as complete bollocks. No offence meant. :P

When was the last time a zombie hunter checked the profile of a zombie, found it was level 1, and decided not to headshot them? Assuming that this event has ever actually happened, what odds would you give me for the zombie's continued survival? Spend some time as a level 1 zombie, and see how much mercy you're given: it'll be of the 12-gauge or 9mm variety, and more often than nor applied directly to the brain-pan. This is especially heinous when you consider that headshot is quite literally the only purely griefing skill in the game, that it is most effectively used versus a new, unskilled zombie player, and that the user is at least level 11, and frequently level 41 with massive excess XP. (These types are almost never level; 42, oddly enough. :P ) Small wonder zombie numbers are perennially low.

"But wait!" I hear you cry, "These people are trenchcoaters!" / "You can't expect us to DNA scan every zombie!" / "I only play support characters!" Well, good for you. OK, let's look other major side in the game. Zombies are able to see the profiles of every character they target: they're predators, and they can discriminate. Are you seriously saying that a zombie shouldn't eat veal? Everyone knows veal brainz are tastiest... mmm... OK, but seriously, if it's alive, zombies will kill it. It's kind of the point of a zombie apocalypse. I know of several zombies (and run several) that will pass up a level 1 on the street... but usually because their effort can be better spent clearing buildings. Even if you are incredibly scrupulous and drag every level 1 rather than killing them, you know that's just a delayed death sentence and they'll likely be gobbled up by some level 42 monsterferal with XP out the wazoo... so why not snack, yourself?

OK, so, on to PKers. Technically survivor by nature of vitality, most survivors abhor them when identified for their daring to kill other survivors. Many are branded "Kill On Sight" by various organisations, including the illustrious Rogues Gallery. And these murdering monsters, these scum of "teh" earth, these most-hated-and-feared players should avoid doing what both other "sides" do routinely because... umm... err... *laughter*

Let me close with an example. Duke D'oeuvre does not actively hunt level 1s. Why? There's little sport to it. But I'm not going to pass up 3 HP wounded prey just because of their level. It's a human-eat-human world out there, and some of those humans are zombies. At least if they die by blade or bullet, they avoid infection, which would make their recovery that much harder... besides, they get to experience life as a zombie, and that can be a big eye-opener. I have to say, first time I was headshot by a trenchie after getting mauled by zombies was... eye-opening.

Don't promote blindness. Open your eyes. All of them. You see with your eyes, but you perceive with your third, mind's eye. Don't let your third eye be blind. B)
