Born Bernard Stevens, he was a poor kid who grew up in Los Angeles' mean streets. Always scrawny (he missed out on a lot of meals as a youth), he always was tough and a born-and-bred survivor. He constantly got in fights(usually lost), and trouble found him with ease. This of course led to him lacking in his education, until a friend got him interested in music - namely playing the guitar.
