BIC

Hello, I've recently added a Building Information Center to your suburb. You guys seem to be pretty consistant with danger reports, so I'm hoping you'll be able to keep it updated. Thanks! --Red Hawk One 06:11, 6 July 2009 (BST)

Great work that! It'd be great if we could merge of mirror the report lists from that and Shearbank Patrol somehow, so the data doesn't get split between too many pages, can you think of any way to do that?.. --Alan Jersie 08:21, 6 July 2009 (BST)
The only solution I can think of would be to manually make sure both sources are up-to-date. I'm sure there's an easier technical solution, but I'm not really one to ask about that. ~ Red Hawk One Talk | NW | KRFR 08:40, 6 July 2009 (BST)
I'm guessing ideally this all should be derived from a single template so that's the only thing that has to be kept up to date, but I have no idea how to merge that with report bot data. Right now Strategic Point List, Building Information Center and building's Wiki page all have to be updated manually, which is a hassle. --Alan Jersie 08:44, 6 July 2009 (BST)
Actually, the BIC and the Wikipages both use the same templates (i.e. {{User:DangerReport/Building Name}})-update one, you update both. A Building Information center is basically just all of a Suburb's danger reports on one page. I'm afraid you'd have to reformat your system to work in the report templates. ~ Red Hawk One Talk | NW | KRFR 09:00, 6 July 2009 (BST)
This is about what I was talking about, the BIC format doesn't allow for at-a-glance scan or coherent organization, or at least I don't think it does. But nevermind that, I'll see if I can figure out something. Could you maybe add Danger Reports for The Bridle Museum and St. Christopher's Church, however? They're Mall entry points. --Alan Jersie 09:04, 6 July 2009 (BST)
I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder; it is a littl confusing to deal with at first, but trust me, it's much more efficient than updating each page. I'll see about making templates for those locations and adding them. ~ Red Hawk One Talk | NW | KRFR 09:20, 6 July 2009 (BST)
Thanks a bunch! --Alan Jersie 09:23, 6 July 2009 (BST)
Done. They're both listed on the BIC under the mall heading as "entry points". ~ Red Hawk One Talk | NW | KRFR 09:36, 6 July 2009 (BST)
Excellent. Thanks again. --Alan Jersie 09:37, 6 July 2009 (BST)
Think I came up with a more manageable, albeit possibly fugly, template - if you're interested. --Alan Jersie 10:34, 6 July 2009 (BST)
I'd agree with you on both accounts. It could still use a little aesthetic work (possibly shrink the reports, granted that's easier said than done), but overall it's a clever and effective tool. Good job :) --~ Red Hawk One Talk | space for lease 08:55, 7 July 2009 (BST)
Thanks. I think what's causing trouble right now is the giant building name text on the template, and I have no idea what to do about that. --Alan Jersie 09:09, 7 July 2009 (BST)

Teamwork

I'm SamuRyjak from the SOTD - First and Only. We occupy the Manuel Towers and I noticed you were very active in status updates on the NT buildings. As we are operating in the same area, I thought an introduction was in order. We will mostly be guarding a 4 block radius of the towers and helping to maintain the Turner NT/Sartin Monument revive point until we get our skill levels up. Any advice or assistance you wish to render would be appreciated. --SamuRyjak 17:02, 25 June 2009 (BST)

Any group aiding in restoration of Shearbank is most welcome. While we probably won't be able to co-operate on the group level as Shearbank Patrol is mainly a communication and coordination hub of individual survivors, you and everyone else are free to utilise our resources and reports, such as Strategic Point status list, or call for help with specific tasks.
Stacey Monument seems to be a wise choice for a revification point, let us know if you get it up and running and into an official state (update the barricade plan and such), or simply update the Strategic Point list yourself.
Hoping for a zombie-free Malton, --Alan Jersie 17:29, 25 June 2009 (BST)
I threw together a Help page, you might find it useful. Take care to observe common sense if you do. --Alan Jersie 17:49, 25 June 2009 (BST)
I linked that page from our tools section under Shearbank Homeowners Association. We are also more of a C&C hub, so I think this will work. I'd like to expand the SHA as a loose group for sharing info between separate groups. Keep your head down and powder dry. --SamuRyjak 19:16, 25 June 2009 (BST)
Good to hear.
What is Shearbank Homeowners Assosiation? Shearbank Patrol also largely serves as a free-for-all information hub, much like Umbrella's PK Listings. --Alan Jersie 19:31, 25 June 2009 (BST)
The Shearbank Homeowners Association would function as a centralized location for communication and coordination between groups and individuals within Shearbank. That way, in the event of zombie incursion, we can communicate effectively. It is also a good way to keep track of maintenance around Shearbank, as your help page lists. By not having any requirements for membership, community minded individuals who wish to stay out of official groups, as well as groups that do not normally work together could still provide a more effective defense.--SamuRyjak 21:55, 25 June 2009 (BST)
This is pretty much the means and purpose Shearbank Patrol is meant to serve. I think we should keep the projects separate but cross-referencing for now, then we'll see how it goes. Tell me if you have an official page up, and good luck! --Alan Jersie 22:01, 25 June 2009 (BST)
Modified the link in our tools page to direct people to Shearbank Homeowners Association directly, there's a link to your help page. Hope that's ok, if not, let me know and I'll remove it.--SamuRyjak 00:48, 26 June 2009 (BST)
Very interesting, I'll keep an eye out for your progress. :) --Alan Jersie 09:48, 26 June 2009 (BST)
You may want to update your Group's front page adding Sartin Monument revive point and Re: Keedwell refuel and updated. --SamuRyjak 16:13, 1 July 2009 (BST)
You'll want to update all related pages (map, barricade plan, wiki page, etc.) and possibly seek local consensus before it can be declared an official revive point and ensure it'll be able to remain in operation with or without any one group's help. --Alan Jersie 18:19, 1 July 2009 (BST)
I'll get on that. For practical purposes it is an RP. I've never waited more than a few hours for a rez. SOTD maintains it, as does a group known as "The Resistance". --SamuRyjak 19:28, 2 July 2009 (BST)
Great. It does seem like a good location for an RP, as I already mentioned. Feel free to add it to the list yourself if you want, but at least after it has a meaningful presence on the Wiki (so as to not confuse other users). --Alan Jersie 19:41, 2 July 2009 (BST)

New Building Status template

Would it be better to show the status of each corner of Stickling Mall or just the Mall in general?--Azureskyx 19:15, 7 July 2009 (BST)

If we want to update all corners separately, we'd probably have to go back to the old non-BIC status report, as it doesn't seem to support corner reports. --Alan Jersie 20:00, 7 July 2009 (BST)

PK Listing

Pleaded innocent as per revenge kill, evidence partially supports claim. Neither he nor reporter pass background check, removing until further incident. Comment if you have any further details. --Alan Jersie 15:08, 9 July 2009 (BST)
