Characters
Anya Sabanova
History
The only child born to an Afrikaans mother and an Ossetian father, Anya spent her childhood in the Kaukasus where she learned to curse in 6 languages, shoot, drive and acquired a taste for extremely poor quality, foul smelling cigarettes; all before the age of 15. When she was 16, her family moved to Malton and became citizens. Here, her father fulfilled his life long dream and opened a small electronics repair business specializing in bulky but reliable Soviet era radios. As this did not provide the type of income he had hoped for, her mother eventually joined the local police force to supplement their income. Despite showing promise with electronics, when she turned 18 she followed in her mother's footsteps and joined the Malton Police Department. She served well, although never truly excelling until she was eventually assigned to a Riot Response Unit just weeks before the Outbreak. When her unit was mobilized "Riots" had already claimed the lives of thousands, and the undead nature of the enemy was just becoming known. In the chaos that followed, Anya stayed with her unit, which was doing its best to protect civilians and keep back the ravenous hordes of slavering flesh eaters. That is, until it was almost entirely devoured. After that she eventually made her way back to her station house in Gibsonton to help however she could. She has generally stayed in the area since. Despite the Zombie Apocalypse, Complete Breakdown of Social Order and Ruthless Military Quarantine, she has somehow managed to never run out of her particular brand of harsh Russian cigarettes, although she will not share them.
Personality
Anya really likes movie and TV soundtracks and when circumstances allow, will listen to the Battlestar Galactica Season 2 soundtrack on an iPod she found. Generally, her attitude is professional but relaxed, willing to provide first aid, assistance building barricades, or just share some clean water. She does not seem too disturbed by the ultra violent lifestyle of Malton survivors. In fact, she considers life in Malton to be a lot like life where she used to live, only with more zombies and less accessible firepower. She has not seen or heard from her family since the outbreak.
