Snow
From the update on December 10, 2007:
- This year it's cold enough to snow, and it's beginning to settle. Walking outside will leave trails of footprints that last until the snow covers them - be careful about leading any unwanted visitors back to your well-hidden safehouse.
From the update on December 22, 2009:
- Another cold winter in the quarantine zone, and snow is falling. Walking or lurching at street level will leave a temporary trail of footprints right to the door of any building you enter, so watch your step.
Snow is a weather effect that comes into play in December. When movement is made through the snow, a trail is left behind, including when you enter or leave a building. The message shown is as follows:
You lurch/walk through the snow, leaving a trail of footprints behind you.
- If footprints have already been made, then it becomes "following a trail of footprints."
You leave the building, making a trail of footprints in the snow.
Building Description
When standing outside a building, its description is also altered. for all buildings there is the text:
Thick snow covers the ground.
- Unless no movement has been made, in which case it shows:
Fresh, unbroken snow covers the ground.
If anyone has entered the block since snow covered the ground, the full stop of the previous stament is replaced by a comma and the following message appears:
with footprints entering from the x.
- When x is the direction in which you travelled.
If anyone has left the block since snow has covered the ground, the previous full stop is replaced by a comma and this stament appears:
and leaving to the x.
If anyone has left the building, then the following message appears:
A set of footprints leads out of the building.
If anyone has entered the building, the stament above changes to:
Further sets of footprints lead into and out of the building.
Loose footing, Blood and Snowbanks
"Slipping" out of a tall building gives the following message:
You fall heavily onto the pavement, a few storeys below. A snowbank collapses.
- If a snowbank is present, then the message is the same as normal.
If someone has fallen out of a building, then the following message appears:
A collapsed snowbank shows where someone has fallen from the building.
If someone is killed outside, the following message is shown upon the kill:
They die. Blood soaks into the snow.
The building's description changes to:
Thick snow covers the ground. It is tinged with blood.
