Description
In the moonless night, amid the wanton debris, only the shuffling of footsteps stirs the silence here.
History
While this part of the neighborhood was never considered "scenic", it took a turn for the worse after the city tried to crack down on a suspected drug-dealing ring that was operating out of the low rent Weathering Faith Apartments.
While the police arrested a number of suspects, within weeks another operation would move into the apartments and the cycle would start all over again. Largely as a result of the property being a constant eye-sore and source of trouble, lawmaker Louise Lamonte enacted legislation encouraging greater responsibility in the renting habits of landlords.
However the landlord of Weathering Faith Apartments, Milford Hopperscotch Elias Mortundo Jr., refused to cooperate, as he harbored a dark and bottomless love for the cocoa leaf. Consequently he was put on 24/7 surveillance and was recorded having sex with a prostitute, forging tax documents, while snorting cocaine off the back of an escaped convict.
When confronted with the video in court he denied any wrong-doing. However, in a bizarre turn of events, the judge admitted to having relations with Mortundo at the Deny Hotel and his case ended in an embarrassing mistrial. After being released from bond he promptly robbed The Stancomb Arms and got on a flight to Bermuda, where he continues to avoid justice.
3 years later, the Weathering Faith Apartments were condemned and bulldozed. There were plans to rebuild the property as pub, but the money fell through. Now the area has fallen into complete decay, however there are a few stacks of bricks which stand as a monument to the revelry and injustice that once took place at this spot.
